Was the Listerman T at the end of half connected to the CC hard-foul game plan?

I would like to think that CovCath would not lower themselves to that level of play.

CovCath is a great and proud program and I highly doubt that this is the case imo.

 

My point was I thought they should have just focused more on winning the game instead of trying to have Holmes lose it.

I thought CovCath was good enough to beat them without any drama, not necessary. JMO

Coach L T story I heard was that at the end of the half Coach Ruthsatz was talking to an official about hand-checking. Coach L saw the convo and came down from the Holmes bench all the way to the endline to get into the discussion. Somehow ended up in a convo with Coach R.

 

T called.

Sweeper, you are off base. The intentional foul was intentional but it was not a hard foul. He wrapped his arms around him to prevent him from getting away. The technical foul was questionable. It was hard. The guy kept going to the hoop. Tobler can't be sure if they are calling it in the act of shooting, continuation, so he fouls to prevent a basket and possible 3 point play. CC was not trying to get under Holmes skin.

 

I was not at the game - am I hearing this correctly - that there were TWO technical/flagrant personal fouls committed by 2 different Cov Cath players on two different plays? Resulting in a total of 4 free throws for Holmes AND the ball awarded back to Holmes for each foul ?

To further, Bolden is just so quick and shifty the CovCath player almost had no option, however, it was absent of malice. He kind of got stuck back-pedaling and just grabbed with both arms. Correct call for sure, but nothing further and was NOT hard.

 

The Tobler foul was hard but I second that he probably didnt know a foul was called on the floor. Bodies were just flying. Holmes got both calls but this was not some sort of "game plan".

 

Congrats to both teams, and for Holmes for getting the W with Bolden out.

I don't know. Cal loves the dribble drive offense and Bolden deffinately has the speed and shot to do that. He will be much better than Archie Griffin IMO.

He didnt make a play at all. Easy call.

 

From what I saw he made a play for the ball and then grabbed him after.

 

I don't think CovCath's game plan was questionable at all. From the comment above, it seems they are being made out to be the Detroit Pistons from the late 80s

Chames was driving after a steal. Wichmann fouled him on the floor right before he started to shoot the layup. Tobler was right behind Wich and fouled him really hard right after the first whistle. T was correct call. Two shots for the T. No other Ts in the game besides the one on Coach L at halftime.

So it sounds like the officials went home last night and did a little research on intentional fouls lol.

Last play. Ruthsatz drove hard to the rim. Chames was waiting on him. He had two choices. Pull up and shoot or kick it. He was NOT going to get a shot off driving into Chames. Kicked it correctly. Shot missed.

No.

But the intentional foul did result in two shots and ball for Holmes. Thus 2 separate technical/intentional fouls that resulted in 4 foul shots and ball to Holmes twice.

Bolden is a PG not a SG, so comparing him to Archie isn't relevant. Cal typically looks for PGs in the 6'2" plus range with top end athleticism. Bolden doesn't fit that mold...

Happened right in front of me. Coach L came running down saying, "what's going on"

 

If I remember correctly, wasn't there an incident between him and cch coaches in the regular season game
