Exactly what I am saying everyone shares the glory and the blame. It is a team game

I agree.

Jr. Trey Congelton played a great game tonight. He didnt do it so much in scoring, but he hit the boards great tonight. I don't know how many he ended up with? But I figured in the double digits! Owsley missed too many east shots tonights and forced a lot as well. I wish Lee the beast of luck in the championship game tommorow night.

Lee simply took Owsley out of their offense tonight. They did an excellent job of shutting them down, and it didn't leave many options but one on one plays. Maybe Robert's just trying too hard to help. But against South Floyd and June Buchanan he played within the team concept. Lee is just really familiar with the Owls, I guess, and have them well scouted. But I agree, they need to look for Trey much, much more. Trey has a lot of talent. But Lee's man to man tonight just bogged down all of the Owl player imo. I will give them credit for that.

Great Summary Professor couldnt said it any better myself. :thumb:

CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH WRIGHT IN HAVING HIS TEAM READY TO PLAY AT BOTH ENDS OF THE FLOOR !

Owsley didnt even run an offense

I'm just curious...why?

A quote from a while back from a Clay County fan:

Will you guys answer something for me?? Is Rober Smith a whole lot better than he was last year? I know the boys never really accepted him and he never really accepted them over here, but I thought he tried to play to much one-on-one and not use the other 4 guys.

Good win for the Bobcats but the Owls can be a good solid team in another week or so. I think they are still finding ways to play together. Smith,Neeley, and Congleton are all good players and as soon as they come together, so to speak, they will do nothing but get better. Much like Wolfe Co. who has some of the same problems but nonetheless a great showing for the Owls and good luck Bobcats and Coach Wright.

Maybe it is because that is all we hear form the Owl faithful, how when he returned all would be saved. I feel for Daniel and Trey who have played thier butts off ALL SEASON and get no credit from thier own fans. I feel both Daniel and Trey are just as good as Robert maybe not athletically but on the floor they both play smart and very hard. These two are the heart of the team and no doubt having a athletic player as Robert join the team has helped the overall team. But the love fest laid on Robert and Robert only is unfair to his teammates. This I have heard from many parents from the Owl faithful. Remember Robert is only playing to stay in Baseball shape. That is a Quote from Sixtfeetsix. I really do like the Owlsley team whether you believe me or not I do not care. This is a team game and not a one man show and it is not from the outside giving that impression it is from the Owl faithful on this forum that lead to that conclusion. This is the last time I will mention the Smith name as to not raise the fury of my neighbors.

IMO, I feel that RObert will be an outstanding College baseball player. He is at least smart enought to know that he may no be able to play basketball competively at the College level. Basically, Robert can play Div 1 baseball in College, and prob would not play Div 1 basketball. A lot of these kids get all "starry eyed' when they average 20 points a game in the 14th region. A lot of them need a reality check. Robert knows what he wants, and I believe he will become a good College athlete. I'll say it again, I can't wait till basketball season is over, and I get the basketball players back to baseball practice. To me, most of the basketball team is a bunch of baseball players playing basketball. But that's just me!

We have heard this all season. They have trouble playin together.

It looks to me that Smith is the topic again in this thread. What is it about this kid that you all hate so much? Is it because he is usually the best player on the floor? I think you all should give this Owlsey team a break, and quit pointing fingers at individuals. It doesnt matter who handled the ball. Owsley didnt even run an offense. It looked to me Smith wasnt the only person on his team forcing bad shots. I still think this kid is a great player; no matter what you guys have to say about him. Give it a break!!!

GIMME A BREAK HERE. You owsley co fans are a bunch of babies if you ask me. Look, this kid every time ive seen him has had such a chip on his shoulder. THE BEST PLAYER ON THE FLOOR MOST OF THE TIME?!?!?!?!? Are you CRAZY!?!?!?!? No way. He has trouble being the best player at practice...was he the best player on the floor last night? Don't think so. Get over him. I wish him well, but hate to see him ruin a team by being such an individualist. Owsley is better off in the long run without him....especialy the damage he will do to next years team right now. Those players need to learn to play ball b/c the Savior won't be there next year.

If Robert doesn't play tonight it could have been a 41 point loss. He does makes a difference, but you're entitled to your opinions.

How do you figure professor?? Lee played @ owsley without smith in dec & won by 13.

played to time with him & won by 19 & 21??? I'm not disagreeing with you totally but I wonder about these facts!!

I think Smith is a great kid and a good player but I wonder what impact he is having on "the team." He is the only senior & came back in January as the savior of this team. How do you think the rest of the players feel about this? Smith scored 21 last night & neeley scored 9 equalling 30. How many times prior to smith arriving did Neeley score 30???? I can recall several times. It seems that smith is drawing much more attention & will affect the entire nucleus of this team next year.

I think what is being missed here is the defense that Lee puts on these players. Smith is an excellent player, Neeley proved himself as a freshman for goodness sakes. But can any of you guys that have watched and understand basketball tell me who is a better defensive player than Caleb Fetters when he gets down and gets with it, which is most of the time? He is not real big, but is so deceptive with his quickness and the way he gets off the floor is absolutely amazing. Lee just plays good defense. Instead of being so dern critical, lets give some credit where it is due.

That was an overboard statement on my part. I had just got back from the games last night, I was tired, and someone had posted something about Robert that bothered me. I think he's a good player, and I attribute Lee's defense to causing all the Owls some problems last night. Owsley could have helped themselves with a little more patience on offense. They would set a few screens and then felt like they had to shoot the ball. Sometimes a team may have to set 5 or 6 different screens, or more, to spring someone open. It may take two minutes, but at least you finally get the shot you want, and hopefully a high percentage shot. Rushed shots and impatience is exactly what a defense wants the offense to do. Last night if the screens didn't work, then it was one on one drives and poor decisions. That played well for Lee County.

But Smith has played pretty good in the last 4 games before last night, and I personally don't think he played all that bad last night. He is averaging a double-double (ppg and rpg) and was a complete player against Powell, Hazard, South Floyd, and June Buchanan. Owsley won 3 of those games, and I'm not sure they would have without Robert.

This is the best post I've seen so far :thumb: . I've tried to get that point across several times in my post.

Smith is an outstanding player. BUT, so is Neeley, Congleton, Fetters, Rich, Brandenburg and many of the other players in the game. The fact of the matter is, Lee played an OUTSTANDING defensive game last night. The were in Owsley's face all night, and any time an Owsley player broke down the defense, Lee's defensive rotation cut-off the penetration. Lee deserves the credit for a great game and game plan. I just wish everyone on this thread would grow-up and stop the personal attacks on 15-17 year old kids and other posters. JMO.

Congrats to Lee. Tremendous win, not what I expected. I really thought that Owsley could step it up and play with them, but it looked like Lee had Owsley running scared all night. Both teams had trouble hitting their shots at the beginning of the first quarter, then Lee got started, and it was 12-3 at the end of the quarter. Lee continued their strong play all game, and Tyler Rich dominated. Robert Smith, being the only senior for Owsley, played his heart out, he is really a class "a" guy. Anyway......... when is district? :fight:

Just curious What personal attacks are you refering to?

Sounded to me like Owsley just couldn't play TEAM ball, rather they played SMITH ball. IMO. They better figure out quick that they must play as a team to win. No more of this Smith and Neeley only.

If Owsley could have hit a shot last night they wouldn't had to play SMITH ball. The only reason that the owls scoring won't evenly disturbuted was that they could hit water if they fell out of a boat.
