Just read post 37. I just don't want this thread to turn into the last Owsley/Lee game thread. It wasn't pretty. A lot of accusations and disparaging remarks. I just think that Lee played great last night and deserve all the credit. Owsley and its players should not be condemned for being shut down by the efforts of Lee Co.

Post 37 The Savior! who said anything about Smith being the savior for Owsley Co. IMO he just makes them a better team. "everytime i see him he has a chip on his shoulder" yes Smith is a confident player, but you have be confident to be goood. And if you didn't see it last night in the 3rd after Rich had dominated for most of the game with Reed, Wilson, & Riley on him. Smith stepped up to help the team and went to battle with Rich in the post defending him pretty well. Individualist huh?

thought #1: Lee played good defense and forced owsley into some bad shots

IMO, I feel that RObert will be an outstanding College baseball player. He is at least smart enought to know that he may no be able to play basketball competively at the College level. Basically, Robert can play Div 1 baseball in College, and prob would not play Div 1 basketball. A lot of these kids get all "starry eyed' when they average 20 points a game in the 14th region. A lot of them need a reality check. Robert knows what he wants, and I believe he will become a good College athlete. I'll say it again, I can't wait till basketball season is over, and I get the basketball players back to baseball practice. To me, most of the basketball team is a bunch of baseball players playing basketball. But that's just me!

Owsley has not contained Rich in the 3 games they have played Lee this year. If June Buchanan used their big man the way Lee does they would have probably been playing Lee instead of Owsley. Lee didn't go to Rich very much last year, going more for a perimeter game, but they have corrected that this year, to positive results.

I'm not really sure that Rich was Lee's big man last year.

 

One thing is sure- Rich stays around the post almost the entire game. It is the most physical spot on the floor from start to finish and not many want to do it. I commend him for staying in there.

Howard was Lee's big man last year, but he shot more 3's than he made post moves. Owsley played Lee 3 times last year and won all 3 games, and I really felt Lee had more talent than Owsley did. Lee's losses last year were mainly due to a perimeter game, and not going into the post. That has changed this year.

I agree with this and said the same thing in a previous post..I still cannot believe that JBS does not develop their inside game more. They have a number of kids that have great size and it would make their guardplay so much better if they did throw the ball inside. They probably have more size than anyone in the region and if they decide to exploit that they will be tough to beat come tourney time. They do have 2 very good guards and they would get better looks at the basket if they didnt have all the pressure on them.

This is true!! I'm guessing that they could meet again for the FOURTH TIME!!
