I hope Lee Co represents the 14th well...They will play a very good Bishop Brossart team...However Bishop plays in a 10th region that is very weak with "All A" schools..They really werent tested in their region "ALL A"...Good luck to LEE

Coach Wright has his Bobcats playing tough defense, only allowing 39 pts vs Owsley and only 41 the following night against a tough Buckhorn team. That is the lowest score for either of these teams this year. The Leisegang twins have really stepped up their defensive games of late. BTW, Lee County scored 60 and 64 in these games.

I don't think that the back-to-back games are a fluke. They didn't play this solid kind of defense a single game before the Owsley 'All A' game, they were winning by just playing mediocre defense and outscoring their opponents.

Coach Wright has fashioned a formidable team, and I think that they now see their potential if they play solid D.

The saying must be true, "defense does win championships!!"

IMO, I feel that RObert will be an outstanding College baseball player. He is at least smart enought to know that he may no be able to play basketball competively at the College level. Basically, Robert can play Div 1 baseball in College, and prob would not play Div 1 basketball. A lot of these kids get all "starry eyed' when they average 20 points a game in the 14th region. A lot of them need a reality check. Robert knows what he wants, and I believe he will become a good College athlete. I'll say it again, I can't wait till basketball season is over, and I get the basketball players back to baseball practice. To me, most of the basketball team is a bunch of baseball players playing basketball. But that's just me!

Totally off the subject of Lee/Owsley....but since you mentioned it:

Robert is a terrific all-around athlete as well as some of the other players on the basketball team who will be taking the field in the spring, but Owsley Co. is a basketball school in a basketball state. They will be remebered for what they do on the hardwood more than what they do on the diamond. JMO.

How do you figure professor?? Lee played @ owsley without smith in dec & won by 13.

played to time with him & won by 19 & 21??? I'm not disagreeing with you totally but I wonder about these facts!!

I think Smith is a great kid and a good player but I wonder what impact he is having on "the team." He is the only senior & came back in January as the savior of this team. How do you think the rest of the players feel about this? Smith scored 21 last night & neeley scored 9 equalling 30. How many times prior to smith arriving did Neeley score 30???? I can recall several times. It seems that smith is drawing much more attention & will affect the entire nucleus of this team next year.

It looks to me that they have already tripled the wins since he has came back. 1 and 10 without him. 3 and 4 with him. Why dont you guys give this kid a break.

Rich scored six after Smith picked him up in Owls man to man and the only reason he didn't score more was late Lee was slowing the game down and not trying to pound the ball inside. Give me a break Smith is no match for Rich inside as Rich could not handle Smith out of the lane. HUH

It looked to me Rich wasnt pushing him around like he did the other boys that tried to guard him. Smith stood his ground, and actually pushed Rich out of the lane several times. The game wasnt late when Smith picked him up. Smith picked him up at the start of the second half. What game were you watching?

Good post. Smith did a decent job on Rich. Rich did work hard and put up some good shots. He does a excellent job getting position. From where I was sitting Owsley just couldn't hit thier shots in the first half. Some of that was from a good defensive Lee Co team and some was just plain missing easy shots. You have to convert on easy shots or the game will get away quick. Same thing happened to Buckhorn, they didn't make their easy baskets and Lee's defense made the hard shots even harder. Not to take anything away from Lee, they played great and make their shots and I for one am proud that they will be representing us in the 14th. The only thing they could have done better was make free throws. Best of Luck in the all A.

There are alot of talented players in the 14th and Smith is one of them.

I'm not knocking him at all. He makes this team better but if they're going to lose then it might be better to let some of the youngers guys get valuable experience. Looking at what "might" be best for the team & not one individual.

This does take credit away from Lee. They limited owsley to 39 points and buckhorn to 41 (97 the night before). When a team plays good defense & contests MOST shots that makes the normally easy shots hard. Shooter dont say well no one is around, i'll make it, they get in the flow of the game were they rush shots & when you rush easy shots, you miss. This is all to do with the DEFENSE & not as much to do with the types of shots that are taken.

Sounded to me like Owsley just couldn't play TEAM ball, rather they played SMITH ball. IMO. They better figure out quick that they must play as a team to win. No more of this Smith and Neeley only.

Ronnie, I was at the game, Smith is Owsley's most unselfish player, he is getting 6 or 7 assist each game.

Major is right!!!

Each game?? I wasnt at the lee/owsley game but i wonder about this statement. Owsley scored 39 points. smith scored 21. that leaves 18 points or at most 9 assists (excluding 3 pointers & free throws). Maybe you meant "most games" but i didnt see the stats but i doubt he had 6 or 7 this game.

That was not the intent at all. Lee Co is a very good team who has worked hard and improved since last year and deserves a great deal of credit.
