KDE is ready to take over Newport schools and is begging anyone (specifically Bellevue to take them over and consolidate) Bellevue doesnt want that, but the state may force their hand. Bellevue and Dayton are on the KDE watch list I think as well.

Nothing coming out of Newport would surprise me. That district has been and continues to face serious issues.

Bills and payroll, Didnt they bring in the asst super from Mason co that has Mason co in all their hot water?

The superintendent from Mason was the reason Mason is in all that hot water.......Kelly Middleton is the new superintendent at Newport and has not been named much in any of the offical documents at all from OEA............and KDE.

The only way this happens is if the state mandates those schools to combine. They will never choose to do it on their own. There is way too much community pride in Dayton and Bellevue.

If we are talking Campbell County consolidation - the KDE need not stop at a Newport/Bellevue/Dayton merger. How about Silver Grove and Southgate?

 

Silver Grove has less than 200 kids K- 12. I know there is great pride in the little river town, but this is ridiculous. Makes no fiscal sense. The entire system could be absorbed into the Campbell County District with out any needed infrastructure. The administrative savings would be tremendous.

 

Southgate doesn't even have a high school. An independent school system that is K- 8. How can that be in today's world of consolidation? Is there another independent school system in the state that doesn't have a secondary school?

Ft. Thomas should just annex the city of Southgate. Maybe take Highland Heights too.

Maybe even get Wilder in the process.

Ft. Thomas schools would not welcome this for many reasons.

I don't know where they heard it from or when it would happen. Its happening all over the state.

They're going to condense the whole state down to 12 schools and hold the state finals in August.
