Bar Rescue

Featured Replies

I just started watching this reality show where a guy named Jack Tapper goes Into struggling bars and gives them some high end consulting to improve business and get them more profitable.

What Bar in the Nky área would you send this guy and why?

I would send him to the 915 Bar & Grill in Ft Thomas first and foremost. Filthy, gloomy, terrible service, unattractive and not so appealing wait staff, Morón owner WO sits and drinks at the bar, no promotions outside of Burger Day. The TV's are very small and look from the 90's and are really embarrassing to say the least.

What is business like at the 915?

I seen something online they may be doing this at Lucky Duck on RT18 in front of Oakbrook? I'm not 100% though

This show is geared more towards the bar business than restaurant. Perhaps Gordon Ramsey is the the guy to call for some of these places.

^ I was just going to say that this sounds like a first cousin of "Hotel Impossible" and "Kitchen Nightmares".

If you look up some of the bars that the guy has flipped and turned around, some have went out of business however many have actually remained in business and are successful now. Most of the ones that have failed are the places he encountered the most resistance and after he left, they reverted back to what they were doing. You may not like him but it does appear he knows what he is doing most of the time.

You get your locals who go there straight out of convenience but it is dead on the weekends for a bar in that spot. I have driven by at 9pm on a Sat night and seen 3 people at best at the bar.

The owner is the former cook and he thinks the business will make money off food. He is a moron, you make your money on liquor sales and you attract people with promotions throughout the week other than $5 burger night. The food is going downhill also. He sits at the bar drinking his Budweiser on ice in a glass and smokes his cigarettes. Many people stopped going because the smoke is so bad and they have a rodent problem I hear as well.

I will stop by and get a beer and smoke a cigar once in a while or if I am forced to go by groups of friends who just dont want to go far from home.

They need to hire prettier girls, friendlier bartenders and clean the place up a little. Get a ladies night, hire Carter New Band to play once in a while or Johnny Delegrange (both local Ft. Thomas acts who perform all over). Its just a shame....the funniest thing is one night I was talking to the bartender about what it would take to buy that guy out. He said that the guy told him he wouldnt take less than $1million. I about spit my bourbon out......what a joke. That guy probably barely does $100K in sales per year.

The bars he tries to help are failing for a reason. Remodeling the place will only last so long. At the end of the day the biggest problem these places have is idiots for owners.

One of my favorite shows! I went to Ft. Lauderdale bar he helped last season. At least the bar usually gets all new equipment and stuff.

I was watching Bar Rescue last night then they had a new show after it on about rescuing used car lots. :D

Bar Rescue was at a bar somewhere in Ohio last season, does anyone remember where or know the bar?
