Covington Holy Cross 60 Scott County 47

Featured Replies

Final from the Finn Center.

Antonio Campbell leads the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Cross. Burt Pouncy with 16 and Travis Gabbard with 13.

For the Cardinals, Quin Richardson with 17, Trent Gilbert and Deonte Doss with 10 each.

Very nice win for the Indians. They need to stay focused and not get caught up in the moment and focus on Wednesday night and do something they have not done since 2004.

SC thumped HC earlier in the year. Big win for the Indians. Did SC have all of their players?

Yes they did.

Very nice win by Holy Cross! Their 1st round matchup with Cov Cath will be a dandy.

Holy Cross is a good team, especially at the Finn.

If you are looking for a sleeper in the 9th Region to make a post season run...

HC is really good 3-5.

Pouncy had 16/5/4.

Huge win for Coach Goetz and the Indians tonight at the Finn Center. Has to be one of the biggest win at home over a team ranked as high as Scott Co in a long time. The Indians outscore the Cardinals 49-28 after the 1st quarter. SC had no answer for Tony Campbell as he finishes with 19 pts and 13 rebs. Player of the game was Burt Pouncy who finished with 16 pts, 5 rebs and 4 assts. Gabbard finishes with 13 pts but more importantly does a great job defensively holding down Trent Gilbert who finishes with only 10 pts. Quinn Richardson led SC with 17 pts and 5 rebs.

Seemed like after the 1st quarter when SC jumped out to an 8 pt lead they were content to just shoot outside jump shots all night (see difference in FT shooting) and they eventually went cold from the perimeter and that's when HC made their run. Indians time after time attacked the basket and got a basket or got to the free throw line. Scott Co who came into the game as one of the best field goal shooting teams in the state was held to just 20-62 from the field (32.3%). HC finishes 18-42 from the field (42.9%). One of the biggest stats of the night was SC from beyond the arc making only 2-14.

Holy Cross played their 3rd straight game without their starting pg Markel McClendon.

SC way too high in the AP poll, IMO. Not a knock on the win tonight by HC at all either.

This was Scott County's 8th loss...KHSAA has a score missing from the Beach Ball Classic where they lost to Whitney Young (IL) 67-43.

Nice win for the Indians.

Campbell, Gabbard and McClendon need to show SR leadership next week and they will have a good shot at knocking CovCath out.

Huge win for the Indians...Congrats
