Besides the outstanding play of Seibert, NCC's bigs were the difference in the game. Holmes was in trouble defensively any time they didn't have both Englemon and Chames on the floor. NCC's bigs allowed their perimeter guys to play hard D at the 3 because they didn't have to worry getting beat knowing the big guys would take care of the middle. Very few offensive rebounds for Holmes. Holmes needs to share the ball better, especially Palmer. Maybe it was just great D by NCC that cut off all inside opportunities. I would like to see the assist stats for each team. I like Coston's game a lot, even though he didn't get many points tonight.

I would put Cooper above Cov Cath. Despite the record and tough schedule, I just don't see CCH being quite as good as NCC, Holmes and Cooper.

On a local, high school scale, it was Duke-UK. Big play after big play by both teams. Best $5 worth of entertainment in a long time. Bolden is incredible, but Pangallo was soooo cool, hitting a 3 that, at the time, looked like a dagger, but Bolden's heroics gave Pangallo the opportunity to be the hero again, and he came through with the tying jump shot in regulation. Crazy cool under the circumstances. The intentional foul, 6 point play was too much of the referee impacting the game, and I thought it was the crushing blow, but Holmes come back from 17 down wouldn't have happened like it did.

 

Great, great game. One of the 5 best, if not the very best, I've ever seen.

I think you can say all 8 players for NewCath did a great job, each had a role and played it nicely. The 3 subs, Weyer, Devoto, & Dupont, while they didn't score they provided valuable minutes and, correct me if I'm wrong, had zero turnovers.

 

Seibert played great in all facets of the game. Had the "hot hand" for sure.

 

Schulte was unstoppable the 1st half and the 1st 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter, then a combination of the Holmes "D" and the lack of going back inside resulted in him getting only a ft after that.

 

McDonald hit just about every shot he through up and most were from 6-10 feet from the basket. Did a solid job on "D".

 

Bueter did an excellent job directing traffic, came through with a "super" drive to the basket to tie things up at the end of 1st OT, and was "money" in the 2nd OT at the FT line.

 

Pangallo, what can you say for a kid who didn't get to the gym till near the end of the JV game and playing sick. His shot with the game in the balance and the clock near to expire was nothing more than "clutch".

 

James Bolden..........UNBELIEVABLE plain and simple.

 

Holmes has a team can shoot the ball, but need to get more balance. I don't think you can rely on just one to carry you.

Let me just say how refreshing it is to read a thread about a great game without any detracting comments about players, coaches, or refs. Way to keep it classy guys.

Bolden is the best player I have seen since Dicky Beal. He is the real deal. Holmes played scared for three quarters, played not to lose instead of to win. I hope the rematch materializes in the regional final.

Let me say the Holmes student section which has been nil up until the last few games was excellent, although the administration had to keep them back due to their excitement. NCC student's were the same as always, very supportive. The place was packed and I don't think anyone was disappointed.

If you James Bolden 3 three point shots was not big enough the 4th Quarter Zach Pangallos shot to tie the game with 4 secs to go was just as big. The better team won the game tonight. NewCath owned the glass. Bolden exploed for a career high 37 points ( if he hits all his shot he could of had 50) and NewCath tried there best to contain him It didnt work, I like to wish both teams best of luck and I am sure they will meet again.

I disagree. Pangallo was very good but Seibert was unreal. If anyone stole the show on the NCC side it was Seibert.
