Rolen ain't comin' back. And I'm not the least bit upset about it.

Not at all

He was helpless last year at the plate, especially when they needed him most.

If you hit .250 in a season, you didn't have many quality at bats.

Obviously I'm cherry picking 2 months, but take a look at Rolen's numbesr in July & August.

July: .321 AVG, .413 OBP

August: .323 AVG, .425 OBP

He struggled before & after that, but I think Rolen could contribute in some capacity (i.e. a very limited role). With that said, it's not a loss if Rolen retires.

He's toast. Frazier will hit much better and Hanrahan can pick it better at third.

That doesn't necessarily mean he was lacking quality AB's. You guys react as if we're saying he should start everyday. In the last 5 years, what hitter off the bench has been a better option?

I agree. Having Hanrahan gives us another lefthanded bat against a good right handed pitcher. I think that signing may end up being the biggest of the offseason. Not including Latos 2 year deal!

Just so you guys are aware his name is jack hannahan, not to be confused with the pitcher Joel hanrahan
