I saw Cameron Fogle was visiting UK the other day. Possible they offered him a preferred walk-on spot? It's possible.

That would be great for both parties. I wonder if he does Walk on at UK if he would also play baseball for them? He is an awesome baseball player too.

How many 2013 NKY D1s are there that should have offers?

 

I might take a run at McCoy for a WR slot but that would be a bit of a stretch.

 

I think Blake Bir is NAIA/1-AA non scholarship/1-AA.

 

Fogle? Probably a 1-AA player but could certainly get some interest from D1 smaller schools.

I agree with the players you posted. I add Nussbaum to that list. He has the speed, proven by being one of the top sprinters in the state, good size with that speed and proven great football ability and instincts. No doubt in my mind he can play D1 safety.

 

I would put Mosier at Walton in the same context as the Blake Bir comments above. You can't coach size and he has that.

Fogle is a very good athlete and wish him the best. This will possibly be one of those decisions on go to a big school and probably not play much or go to a smaller school and play. He is good but I'm not sure he is SEC good. I hope so but just not sure. He is a nice young man though.

Fogle has great speed. If you listen to Tuberville, that is what it is all about. I agree about questioning the SEC level for Fogle but with his speed, I wouldn't say that he can't play at that level. Refresh my memory, how big is Fogle ... real numbers, not roster numbers.

After thinking about Fogle and the possibilities he may have to play 2 sports at the next level, I wonder how many NKY athletes will play 2 sports in college. I have heard rumors that AJ Collins may be playing baseball and football at the next level. Wonder how many others may have the opportunity to do the same?

I don't know the official numbers for Fogle, but I was talking to him a couple weeks ago at a bball game and I would guess he's around 200lbs and 6ft range. Just a guess, but he seems as if he'd be good size for something like safety at the next level with his speed etc. I don't know if anyone ever looked at him to play that position at the next level but with his football instincts it wouldn't be a bad fit imo.

It was big for Mosier to get preferred walk-on offer from UK. Question now is will anyone swoop in late with a full offer? A lot of uncertainty about competition level. All he did for 3 years at Walton was dominate the line of scrimmage, both sides of the ball. I'd bet he'll earn a scholarship at UK if that is his choice.

As an answer to thread title, its because there is not enough good players. No matter what BGPposters think, especially in certain zipcodes, they are not bigger experts than guys whose livelihood and careers depend on whether kids can play or not.

Yeah but even they will tell you it's still a guessing game. They are just trying to make the surest guess as they can.

I don't thik that's the case at all. I think more of the problem is no big city. Major cities will always get more attention based on competition alone.

 

There is a reason Cincinnati, Louisville etc. get a lot of attention and I would be willing to bet it's the same across the country. Go to Texas, California etc. just about any state and I would bet you the majority of kids in or around major cities will always get the most looks due to several things such as media attention etc.

 

I'm not saying this area is limited in great players, but having watched a lot of players across the state this year you will never convince me that someone like Ryan Timmons who is getting a D1 scholarship is any better than Cameron Fogle. Sorry, but I think this area has several very good players that just haven't been looked at as much as some of the other areas.

 

Aperfect example of this is the rumor that Trinity's backup QB is getting D1 offers, wether this is true or nnot I don't know, but the rumor is out there and youu can't tell me someone like Blake Bir hasn't warranted an offer like that. The big difference betweeen the two? Blake has proven himself, but hee plays in NKY area that is largely ignored compared to a Louisville area.

I have a feeling that the very geography of this site lends itself to readers/posters overrating NKY's talent level. Like it or not, most posters on here (whether they will admit it or not) don't have a clue about football in Lex or Lou or Cincy other than what they read on this site. C-Boy78 is absolutely correct. Let's face it, while the brand of football is very good here in NKY, it's not really as significant as we like to think it is and build it up to be on the heavily NKY biased site.

 

Bingo! Its good for around here, but no big time. Cincy is loaded with talent. Same as Louisville. Even down state, you have some studs that play on just above teams, but as an individual he has potential to be special. We tend to build teams around here with what we have. That's how Nky can compete. Not because of superior talent.

I think you are right about there not being enough good players impacting recruiting. If you are a D1 scout/coach/recruiter, you can go to a GCL game and see several D1 calibre players. So do you go watch that game or go to a N. Ky. game to see one maybe player. I do believe these recruiters miss players because of that. The N. Ky. players we are listing here are D1 players. They have the size and/or speed and ability recruiters want. D1 recruiting is a little like the NBA draft - God given athletic ability and size are in many ways more important than production. That is why I say the recruiters are missing on these guys.

 

My advice - if you think you are fast enough and big enough and capable of playing D1 ball, get on the summer camp circuit every week. That is where you have a chance to catch someone's eye. That also is where you will find out if you really are D1 material.
