It's also what happens when a coach like Wilhoite leaves. He worked on it a bunch.

I like Dixie!

 

Dixie is one of the best to look at and to watch but the infield is as rough as a gravel driveway.

 

Cooper's infield is as nice as can be but the outfield is still a work in progress. Coach Bieger and his helpers have put a ton of work in the place.

Played on the Ludlow field for several years and I always enjoyed the view of the river and hearing all of the Assistant Coaches up by the fence shouting out encouragement or getting on the umpire. Most of all as a lefthanded batter I loved the 280 feet to the rightfield fence.

Since JB has taken over at HHS he and his crew have done a remarkable job at Highland Park. There is a night and day difference..

Basically sums it up. Having concrete in a spot in left field makes it even worse...

Man, when I played ball back in the early 70s, I never pitched a lefty middle to in at Lemker Field. Would rather walk a decent hitter than loose the ball over right's fence. I must say though, I enjoyed playing there back in my day. Always had real good crowds for a game, and those Ludlow guys were players, they never quit.

.............and before the days of tarps and diamond dust, Lemker was the one field that you could pretty much count on drying out in time for a game.....

Always was a field that dried out quickly.

Sounds like we played at about the same time. I graduated in 75 from Ludlow. Lots of great memories of Lemker Field.

Who's are the worst?

 

Conner's field is pretty bad. There is an upslope between shortstop and third base that makes fielding even routine balls tricky, and their outfield is a mess. The band used it for a practice area for years..
