In what way? Because he looks like him? Or, because he rides a motorcycle and hogs all the fly balls!!??

If Ross moves to LF then that moves Hermann to RF. Still probably not a starting spot for Ostertag (sp?) except maybe when Hermann or Ross are pitching. But he'll have to hit to play much.

I'd say Austin Price gets the nod at 2b.

Ha! That is Blaise. Good kid with the golden locks, and a very nice sophomore player. Not sure if he's talented enough to hit one in the gap on an intentional walk pitch!

I certainly hope Hermann isn't pushed out by the coaches. It happened last year and caused a ton of problems.

 

Coaches will get a ton of grief when they play under-performing seniors every at bat of every game in one year (because "they've earned it") then turn around and skip solid senior players the following year for unproven younger talent (which did not produce).

 

These issues really dragged down Conner's season last year and I for one do not want to see it again.

Don't get me wrong, Herrmann is a solid player. It's either take Blaise's superior fielding skills or Dustin's superior batting ability. Either way, I think it's a good choice for Arlo.

Was talking to Grant Schreiver CovCath starting right fielder parents last night after the CovCath vs. Ryle game and they told me that "You Belong" has been offered by Eastern Kentucky and will be attending a U of L Basketball game as the guest of the U of L Baseball Coach sometime soon!

That is great news for Grant, Stringer and Combs from BW were both at the Louisville-Marquette game last Sunday as guest of the Louisville baseball coach, along with 5 of their Midland team members.

Haven't been on the site in a bit, so I'll fire off a post that maybe will get someone worked up.

 

Time for Ryle and CCH to actually do something come tournament time if they want to be ranked pre-season as anyone's regional favorite. Safe to say that year in and year out they have more than a fair amount of talent and are always extremely competitive, but they simply haven't gotten the job done post-season. They have - what? - one regional championship between them since 2006?? Almost hard to believe really. Speaks to the highly competitive environment in the 9th region.

 

NCC is going to be one tough out this season with their returning pitching!

St Henry is a big sleeper in my eyes. They have Kuebbing, rose, Niemer, conradi, and LaCorte, all of which throwing at 80 or above. With taylor and Rogers in the middle infield, Conradi at 3rd and Markgraf behind the plate, they have a pretty good defensive team. There best hitters being Kuebbing, Rogers, Conradi, and rose. They are gonna need to be someone to watch out for.

If St Henry has 5 guys throwing in the 80s, they are going to be the toughest staff in the region. That is strong. I remember vividly watching the 2002 State Championship game with Cov Cath and Trinity and no pitch was thrown over 78mph. Trinity and Cov Cath throwing their number 2 pitchers

Do not underestimate Beechwood. They have 3 D1 baseball players on that team and a D1 athlete.. They still might be a year away but they will definately be a tough out as the year progresses..

I think Highlands will be very good this year, lots of returning seniors and some really good underclassman.
