Hoge may very well step into a role at Safety. I am pretty sure that Dougherty will not step in there. I am sure many soph's are just hoping that they get a chance to contribute in some fashion at the Varsity level.

 

 

 

 

 

If Hoge moves over to defense, I think he fits at corner opposite Bardo. Abner and Urlage are solid at safety.

Beau stepped in at CB a few years back in the USA U15 All American game in Canton and ended up having 2 picks. He can play defense that's for sure but someone else wanted him to play a different position that's why he was on offense. I think that someone else is finally letting Beau do what Beau wants to do....And it's showing!!!

A downside of the true two platoon system. Back in the day when kids practiced their positions on both sides of the ball, your starting CB could still be your back up QB and get practice reps at the QB spot. Now with players only practicing on one side of the ball, your starting CB can't be your back up QB. If Beau ends up playing defense it will be a result of the coaches feeling someone else will be a capable back up to Houliston.

 

Hoge, Bardo, Abner and Urlage would be a very talented defensive secondary. I'm sure there are other kids that will be pressing hard to start in the secondary. Secondary should be extremely good this coming season.

Is it possible that the coaches do move Hoge to defense and then have Austin Hergott as the backup quarterback? Or is there someone else in the program that would serve that role?

 

I look for Hoge to play somewhere else whether it be defense or another offensive position and still be the backup quarterback if something were to happen to Houliston. Hergott would hopefully be able to get some game action in blowouts in addition to being the JV quarterback.

 

By the time Griffen graduates he will be a very dangerous football player. What is he now 6'-2"-6'-3"? He has the frame to put on some serious size the next couple of years. He along with the Cowboy and if both of them work their tails off, the 2 of them back there could be very scary for opposing receivers the next couple of years.

Ahhh forgot about Brady but I think he will be lined up a little closer to the line rather than in the secondary. His lateral quickness allows him to cover much more ground than just your typical DB....I won't mention who Brady kind of reminds me of because that would be unfair to compare Brady to the "Hair"....LOL!!!!

From what I saw of Murray last season as a sophomore, he was a 'can't miss' tackler. He hit runners low and hard. They are going to have a really good mix of seniors and underclassmen on the defense next year. I see a lot of people talking about Bo Hebel on here. I am curious as to where he will be playing and how much of an impact he will make next season.

All I know is Brady Murray is much better than the old man.:lol: As for Hebel, I would look for him on the defensive side of the ball this year. He is a hole clogger and if teams are geared to stopping Hope, Hebel could have a big year. If incoming Soph Tyler Robinson continues to develop I could also see him being a factor on the defensive line.

That could come in handy, especially against a team like Elder.

Hebel "the man child" should pay dividends on the d-line. I would imagine Jared would handle the kicking duties our Josh Brown in waiting! I don't see this group missing a beat! Any word on a replacement game for Boyle?

Few more to add on the frosh watch list is Grant Murray and Trent Webster from Blue. Both will be key contributors in the fall!

"They" said Hoge starting the "work harder then others" training after the Xmas break with the Defense and when Dale wanted to know where he was, well that was the end of that, back to Offense. Just sayin what "They" said. :confused:

Should be interesting to see what the offense will look like having deviated from a running QB to one centered around being a pocket passer.

 

If you mean Jake, he is. Along with 3 other new Soph/Juniors to be and at least 1 Junior/Senior to be. And all were pretty good players as Frosh but took year off. Should be nice adds.

 

Depth will not be a problem for HHS this year. Def Line has 30+ players as of now at workouts. Receivers aplenty. I'm guessing there will be some position changes as there already has been some. Will be interesting when spring ball comes around and we can see the changes in person.

Gotch ya! Well if showing up is all you have to do, then the craziness Coach W had the defense going through today is all for naught. I would go into details, but that would be giving the winning formula away. I will stick with what Sweep keeps saying. Just working harder than others! Just saying!
