I know there was 22 8th graders and freshman at Mondays practice.

 

So how many were actually frosh? Just curious to hear who is trying out for the teams this spring. Anyone know if Brady Gesenhues and/or Trent Casebolt are trying out for the team? How about Hunter Henschen? I did see where Austin Mayhew is trying out this year. Also my understanding that Nick Kendall will not be trying out, though that could change next week.

Yeah there is a waiting list the size of the swim club's to get a house or apartment rental in Ft. Thomas..

I know a lot of kids play in the Southwest Ohio League. Mostly made up of select teams that travel in southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

So here are a couple of honest questions about middle school kids playing freshman baseball.

 

 

Are they allowed by the KHSAA to play for there select/other teams at the same time the High School season is going on?

 

If they play on a team that is in SWOL or a travel team that is made up of other 7th and 8th graders and that team starts playing their games at the end of March, are they better off playing for the select team or for the High School freshman team? In other words, is the level of play at the freshman level better than 13u and 14u select ball?

As far as being allowed to play, I'm sure that's a coaching decision as well as scheduling issue. From my experience almost all select teams would be on par with any local freshman team, with quite a few select teams being far superior. Especially those in the National division.
