An outsider looking in, it seems as though Brossart has spent all of its time and effort over the last few years promoting its "victim" status and no time on what the school would have to offer an incoming football player. Kids will meet expectations, and if the attitude from the top down is that of a Class 2A victim that cannot compete, then what other result would you expect? Brossart is in a tough spot no doubt, but they have self promoted their demise along the way. This next hire is critical for survival of the program.

I was thinking the same thing, KJ. I guess it's only a problem when they choose NCC.

 

I believe you nailed it here. I guess the rules a few grumpy old BB fans was only in attempt to keep kids from going to NewCath. It blows my mind that a handful of old men seem to think they have the right to tell parents where to spend thousands of dollars and control the life choice of kids.

I am amazed that Bishop Foys would allow all the athletes to go to one school...But the diocese IS in Covington. After watching the beat down BBHS gave Highlands the other night in hoops, I'd say they have plenty of athletes in Alexandria. They just all play basketball I guess. Here is the issue. You have a handful of huge Brossart football supporters that want a Beechwood or a New Cath program seemingly overnight while others reasonably know that it takes time and consistency to build a program. If you keep getting rid of the coach every other year, I promise the program will fail. Gotta get someone who is a homer to come in and start selling this program and plant some roots. Maybe having a facility to call their own would help but NCC has borrowed Newport forever and they're pretty good. The other problem is, kids that go to Brossart are going for a good Catholic education not because of football. All I know is, those boys on that court the other night could have made some amazing wide receivers and the Saunders would probably be a stud running back or tight end. I'm not sure if any of their bb players play football but until they get all their best athletes to play football, they will not see much improvement. Look how many players from NCC and HHS play football and basketball.

With years and years of BB fans crying about St Joes and St Marys kids going to NewCath I wonder how they feel with kids going all the way to CovCath. Going to have another meeting to try to make it a rule where kids go to High School again??

I think it was more of the idea of going across the licking and out of Campbell County.

3.49 miles more from where to where? If you live in Campbell County, Cov Cath is not easy to get to. No real quick way.

So I guess you are saying if you live in Alexandria it is only 3.49 miles more than going to NCC? How many more minutes does it add to the half hour one way trip?

But if you live in Highland Heights and go to NCC is it still only 3.49 miles more?

finally someone who thinks EDUCATION might drive a decision............It seems that BBHS and NCC are falling victim to NDA and CCHS when education matters. Look at the ACT scores and other data that is education related then you can't question a parents decision to drive all the way out of the county for what they feel is in the best interest of their child/children.

Transfers happen all the time for so many reasons, but back to the real topic..Who's going after this job?

Unfortunately Brossart's decision to wait till late January to make a hire may hurt there cause even more.

Because there are so many people lined up now for the job?

Are people sure that 11 kids from St Joe are heading to CCH or is that just word on the street?

 

Seems odd.

There are 9 kids that are a lock. Could be a few more that I don't know about. I believe the class has 35 boys.
