I have nothing but respect for Cov Cath but in the last few years they have lost just as many playoff games to teams NOT named Highlands than they have to HHS.

Quality teams being teams that have shown over time that they can play with almost anyone in the state and not be embarrassed. I do not believe flash in the pans like Holy Cross or Ryle or Cooper to be in that class. I also do not consider smaller teams that do well in their divisions but who would take beatings on a regular basis if they played against the quality teams, to be in that class. As I stated previously, Cov Cath has shown that they can hang with very good teams, they step up to play a strong regular season schedule, they are a good team and in my opinion they belong in the conversation. Believe me, I am not a Cov Cath fan and this is just my opinion, not sure why you have your shorts in a bunch over my opinion.

The reason 'i said what I said about the CCH thing is simply you cannot say things like others have said like "If it wasn't for Highlands, Cov Cath would of won the last 4 state titles" kind of crap. If CCH was so elite then they should of beaten HHS at least half of the time in those 4 years. They haven't so why treat them differently than you treat the rest of the teams in the state?

 

It's special treatment you and others give a team that has done nothing since 2006 yet you don't give the other teams in the state the same bias.

 

Finally, what does this do to change the fact that as you and others have said, the same teams keep winning anyway.

 

No one has ever answered that question. Guess what? You put CCH, HHS, Trinity and ST X into the same class and CCH still DOESN'T win anything. So again I don't get your point. Wether there is just 1 class, 4 classes or 6 classes the Trinity's and HHS will still win and CCH will still lose period. So why change it? CCH for being so great yet having the same number of titles as those teams you say dohn't deserve top be in the conversation like Holy Cross and NCC etc. over the last 6 years just shows true bias on your part and still you haven't been able to show anyone how CCH would win any titles if things were changed.

But so many teams can say the same about "one team." How many titles would Mayfield have without Danville? Too much conjecture to build a current resume on IMO.

How about doing something like this, and then you don't have to worry about an arrogant class.

 

I get so tired of hearing how only a few teams are truly great and the rest are embarrasments. If people are so worried about blowouts and the same teams winning every year, then how about evening the playing field?

 

Look at the schools that are always winning and think about how some of them do that each year?

 

Instead of the arrogance, how about leveling the playing field. How about passing a State rule saying teams can only be made up of kids that actually live inside thier school districts? How about making another rule that says if a kid switches schools (due to moving etc.) must sit out an entire year?

 

How about private schools simply playing other private schools and having their own class?

Then I'd be interested in seeing who is always the dominate programs amongst the public schools.

Now before people get up in arms saying blah blah we don't recruit blah blah blah, simply make it a level playing field across the state and quit looking down your noses at the other schools for doing the right thing year in and year out.

 

That is my 2 cents.....If you want to talk about the Elite Class, then take your lumps along the way instead of looking down at all the other programs state wide.

So 15 total private schools spread among the 6 classes and only 1 would currently be considered dominate at the current time in the very top class.

 

There just is not an argument for the concept of a 'Private class'.

Average margin of victory in the championship game since six-class football began:

 

28.6 ('12); 26.5 ('11); 36.1 ('10); 22.0 ('09); 16.8 ('08); 16.0 ('07)

 

Average margin of victory in the championship game in the final six seasons of four-class football:

 

14.7 ('06); 21.0 ('05); 19.7 ('04); 19.5 ('03); 20.5 ('02); 23.2 ('01)

This is what they instituted in Oklahoma last year.

 

B. In athletic activities, a member school shall be placed one classification above the classification in which the member school would be placed according to ADM if the member school meets any three of the following four

criteria:

 

i) the school has the ability to decline admission or enrollment to a student, even if the student and the

student's parents (or custodial parent or court-appointed guardian with legal custody of the student) reside

within that school's public school district or designated geographic area;

 

ii) the school is located within a fifteen (15) mile radius of a school placed in the 5A or 6A classification

according to ADM;

 

iii) fewer than twenty-five (25) percent of the children enrolled at the school in grades nine through twelve

qualify for free or reduced lunches;

 

iv) the school's ADM in grades nine through 12 has increased by fifty (50) percent or more over the previous

three school years.

 

C. A school moved up one classification pursuant to the above criteria will be moved back down in classification in a

particular activity if the school's team has not finished among the top eight teams in that activity in at least three of

the previous five school years.

 

Indiana has instituted a new "success factor" rule. Each championship (from state to regional) is assigned a point value. If you exceed that point value over a certain period of time, then you move up a class.

 

I would like to see these things for Kentucky, but then everyone is going to have to shut up and get better. There are still going to be really good teams out there and you are not going to be handed a ring.
