Of course it is true. That does not mean he is going, but it could get him more money at UL or get one of the jobs he wants to press a little harder. UL still has a game to play so admission of talking to another team probably isn't in the best of form.
November 29, 201213 yr If Auburn is interested he will listen. He and every other coach out there owes to themselves and their families to listen and explore possibilities.

November 29, 201213 yr I feel like he would be dumb to leave UL. Especially since they are going to the ACC.
November 29, 201213 yr I feel like he would be dumb to leave UL. Especially since they are going to the ACC. SEC>ACC If he is gonna get good money to go to the sec why wouldn't you. Better money, better conference, easier to recruit. Auburn recently won a national championship if people forget that. I would hope he would go to UT that way they can't poach CBJ
November 29, 201213 yr I feel like he would be dumb to leave UL. Especially since they are going to the ACC. He'd be dumb to leave Louisville for Rutgers. Auburn would be a promotion.
November 29, 201213 yr I'm torn by this. Part of me says, "Louisville is heading for the ACC. It'll give you an easier path to the BCS while getting you an even better foothold for your primary recruiting base in Florida. Not to mention taking as an example how fast things went south for Gene Chizik; that's what happens when you have to go toe-to-toe with Nick Saban." At the same time, you want a coach who demands the best of himself and of the team he coaches. That part of me says "This is the next step: college football played at its highest level. This is the sort of challenge you build your whole career toward as a college coach. The ceiling at a job like that is extremely high, if it exists at all." That kind of coach isn't concerned about a "safe path to the BCS." He believes he can make all the moves necessary to be successful wherever he is. That's the kind of coach you want. He may be that kind of coach without leaving for Auburn. We'll find out.

Auburn recently won a national championship if people forget that. I would hope he would go to UT that way they can't poach CBJ He won't be getting better money by going to Auburn. I think it would be a bad move for him to leave UofL for a few reasons. First, we have the ability to pay him whatever it takes to keep him. That's a plus. Second, UofL is in a pretty good position right now. We're moving to a much better football conference, but the conference should be winnable more often than not. On the flip side of that, I think Louisville would be more understanding if they had a couple down years. I don't think Strong gets fired if he has two consecutive five win seasons. And finally, he'd be leaving a fan base that absolutely adores him. So IMO, I think it would be way to risky of a move going to Auburn.
November 29, 201213 yr I heard an interesting fact on Around the Horn yesterday. Of the 41 African American coaches who have been a head coach at the D1 level and were fired, only one was ever rehired as a head coach again. Just something to think about, and it's something I'll bet Coach Strong is aware of too.
November 29, 201213 yr And finally, he'd be leaving a fan base that absolutely adores him. There will be a serious gut-check on that adoration if the Cards get beat up tonight, lose three straight to end the season and see that BCS bid slip away. That said, if Louisville gets that second bowl selection and in Strong's first three years Louisville goes from no bowl to the Beef O'Brady Bowl to the Belk Bowl to the Russell Athletic Bowl then you can't argue the upward movement. Any other Cards fans as absolutely down on this team as I am right now? My pessimism is really showing through. It took a day off yesterday but it's definitely back.

November 29, 201213 yr That is a very sad number especially when you consider all the recycling that goes on with old coaches. Sounds like it, but also need to know the same number for white coaches. I would also think more black coaches have been hired (and thus fired) recently, so there may be proportionally more of them still waiting out the "in between" period coaches go through before getting a 2nd shot at a HC gig.
