Shouldn't ever compare people to Hitler or Jesus...in anything.
Oh no! It's only insensitive to compare Obama to Hitler...didn't you know?

Clyde, some people take their religion more serious than others. To them, it's not a case of looking to be upset. To them, it's just downright offensive.

I take my religion seriously. I just know when someone is joking and when someone is NOT stating that they believe that the POTUS is our saviour and lord.

My brain functions perfectly.

That's not the problem here. Many don't believe that's something to joke about. If this were another religion, we'd be hearing how understandable it is that they took offense. Hell, our government blamed a video for what happened in Benghazi and many took up that argument. This? "Those silly Christians getting offended at humor" is what I'm hearing. Hmmm.

Joke or no joke, it should be obvious to you why some would be offended. The joke was in poor taste.

PC should be exercised in all directions. It wasn't here, and it doesn't offend me personally, but I believe it would some. It's scarier that he would even think along those lines...unless he is being sarcastic...then would he be criticized from the other direction??

A couple of points:

This thread and what I've seen on Twitter/FB is not looking at his comments as a joke. They are looking at it is him being dead serious. Even Doomer said that. You did with "what the hell....."

IF we all agree that is was a joke delivered by a guy who is paid to deliver jokes (and I'm not even sure it was a joke as much as a black pride statement) then it's not even to the level of "offensive" towards Christians.

Offensive would be "Jesus had anal sex with Paul" or "Mary wasn't a virgin because...." That could be seen as offensive.

This didn't even come close to registering with me as anything other than "hey, fellow black people, we have one of us still in the White House." I'm cool with that. I'd be cool if some Mormon comedian made a joke about "President Romney" being a prophet to other Mormons.

This is easily one of the biggest much ado about nothings as we've had on here in quite a while.

Is anyone offended by the movie "Dogma "?. If so, you'll find me extraordinarily offensive, as I have a Buddy Jesus statue.

Free speech protects even the mentally challenged, and this is an insult to the mentally challenged!

If I knew how I would paint a picture of Muhammad and put Obamas face in it and see how much uproar that causes. It is free speech. I wonder if I would go to jail for insulting Islam?

As is often the case you have missed the point.

You are NOT a comedian. The messenger matters.

Wait, a comedian says something and it's taken seriously? What the hell is wrong with this world?

This is how I took the comment.

I don't think it has anything to do with Foxx being a comedian.

I don't see how you can separate the two. It was delivered in the form of humor.

If humor was the intent, laughter would have ensued. The primary response from the crowd was one of applause.

Humor was used as the vehicle. Otherwise, you're saying Foxx believes exactly the words being used. He used humor to convey his message.
