Heck, I'm old enough to remember the Beatles being more popular than Jesus.

I get the point. I just don't get offended by ANY joke a COMEDIAN makes and I think anyone who gets offended by anything a comedian makes is too tightly wound. I don't care if it is a Jesus joke, a gay joke, a black joke, a white joke, a Latino joke, a handicapped joke, an Obama joke, a Romney joke, a republican joke, a democrat joke, a woman joke, a religious joke.....a joke is not to be taken seriously or even meant to be taken with taste or class. I could understand if Joe Biden said it. Or Jesse Jackson. Or Al Sharpton. Or the crazy Obamaphone lady. Would completely understand. Anyone who takes anything Jamie Foxx says at The Soul Train Awards Show is looking for something to cry about. Period.
Then you don't get it. You aren't everyone. Just because they might get offended doesn't mean they're wound too tight. Some things are off limits to some people, religion falls into that category, I get that and can respect that, others can't.

Yeah, tell me it didn't strike a nerve with many, many people.

The above posts are the basis for my contention that the original issue was not poor taste in humor but, rather, the elevation of the POTUS to be above Jesus.
Well, did people laugh or did they just applaud? I didn't hear much if any laughter. Poit of the thread was that it's a comment that some found offensive. I'm pretty sure I knew why I started the thread.

I agree with PP2 and Clyde.

Tebow is Football Jesus and Zack Galifianakis is Fat Jesus. Never heard any complaints about that.
Completely honest here, I've never heard either of those, but no, it doesn't offend me and neither did Foxx. I do, however, understand how some would be offended by all three.

Another reason some may be offended more by Foxx's comment is Obama and the Democrats recent track record with Christian religion.

Well...I'm shocked.
I don't take that as him trying to be humorous. Pretty scary...now Obama is elevated to a god status?

Hey, I love comedy, I have my doubts that what we're seeing here. If you can't imagine any Christians being offended by this, think again.

If you started the thread because you didn't think it was funny, a)that's fine and b)that's not the way it came across.

What track record do you speak of? AHCA mandate? Others?

I didn't even say I didn't think it was funny. I said I understand how many would be offended by it and that's what the intention of the thread was. That's why I asked what the hell is wrong with people, pointing out how it was offensive to many. Again, no, I'm not offended, but I can see why many were.

Yes, the contraception mandate as well as the little debacle at the DNC.

And those people need to get a life and quit looking for people who say things that hurt their feelings. How Jamie Foxx's sarcastic statement at The Soul Train Awards Show became public fodder is sad indeed. Does Soul Train even come on anymore? Who even knew they had an awards show? This has to be the most obscure award show in the history of awards shows. I mean I am sure if I looked hard enough I could find someone somewhere who said something that hurt my feelings. I question anyone's motives as to why they would go looking for those people and why they use every little thing they see to say," see, I told you how they were." Much ado about nothing.

Jamie Foxx????? Really????

I just wish he would tell jokes. The same way I wish actors would just act, singers would just sing and athletes would just be athletic. I don't care about your political views. I don't take most of you serious when pertaining to important matters/issues.

I usually catch it either live or a replay.

When I see something about Soul Train, Clyde is the first person I think of. Soul Train through and through.
