Yes. I do. He didn't single anyone out. He made a sarcastic statement about black people's love for Obama and now his face on one of those memes on Facebook with idot stamped across it under the headline,"Did he really say that?" They should go look up some of his better material if they want to be even more offended.
Lucky for them you're not their moral compass. With all due respect, it's not up to you how they feel about their religion or what should or shouldn't offend them.

What am I missing here? Jamie Foxx is a comedian and comedians make jokes...
What you're missing is some people don't feel their faith should be made fun of, I understand that and believe they have a right to be offended regardless of how you or I feel about it. It's really just that simple.

Then don't watch comedians who say offensive things. It's really just that simple.

Huge Soul Train/Don Cornelius fan.

Great documentary out there about the show.

Soul Train always makes me think of NWO.

True. And I am grateful I don't know anyone like that and if I do I am glad they remain quiet. I'd probably end up offending them. :D

That's my whole point.

What you're missing is some people don't feel their faith should be made fun of, I understand that and believe they have a right to be offended regardless of how you or I feel about it. It's really just that simple.

I am still struggling to see how this falls into the category of making fun of a religion.

If anything he's making fun of black folk for the pedestal they're placing the POTUS upon.

A couple of points:

This thread and what I've seen on Twitter/FB is not looking at his comments as a joke. They are looking at it is him being dead serious. Even Doomer said that. You did with "what the hell....."

IF we all agree that is was a joke delivered by a guy who is paid to deliver jokes (and I'm not even sure it was a joke as much as a black pride statement) then it's not even to the level of "offensive" towards Christians.

Offensive would be "Jesus had anal sex with Paul" or "Mary wasn't a virgin because...." That could be seen as offensive.

This didn't even come close to registering with me as anything other than "hey, fellow black people, we have one of us still in the White House." I'm cool with that. I'd be cool if some Mormon comedian made a joke about "President Romney" being a prophet to other Mormons.

This is easily one of the biggest much ado about nothings as we've had on here in quite a while.

I know it was used as an example, but there is a part of this post that is disturbing. Everytime this thread bumps to the top, it's a reminder of what was written here. There. My thin skin finally mustered the courage to say it. I guess I'm the only one bothered by it.

Narrow it down for me. That was a bit vague.

Did not read through this entire thread, but I do believe in free speech. Jamie Foxx said what he said and that is fine with me. However, he must be ready to face the consequences. We all need to be accountable for what we say and do. He may find feed back from loyal fans that say he has stepped over the line and will not follow him, he may find people want to sue him or picket his house or he may not get fired from a job. I really don't care. But when you use your freedom of speech, make sure you understand the consequences.

Jamie Foxx isn't suffering at all. It's just a Facebook meme is all. I don't even think Jamie Foxx even cares about this situation.

What you're missing is some people don't feel their faith should be made fun of, I understand that and believe they have a right to be offended regardless of how you or I feel about it. It's really just that simple.

Everybody I have seen crying about this has been offended politically and not religiously. I haven't seen anyone claiming blasphemy.

Just forget about it because it will cause a thread jack on a topic that is much ado about nothing.

Should I assume it was my extreme examples used that were bothersome?

It was did in order to show examples of jokes that WOULD easily be considered offensive.

Again, I don't even see this as a joke ABOUT Christians.

I am still struggling to see how this falls into the category of making fun of a religion.

Hammer meets nail.

Or don't say things on a show that everyone has a right to watch that would be that offensive, that seems pretty simple too.
