November 20, 201213 yr I'm EXTREMELY glad to hear it. Walt's is my favorite barbecue sauce...period. By the way, the article said "...the late Bill H. Melton and his first wife, Marge, a waitress, purchased the 1942-era restaurant from their neighbors in May 1958." The word "purchased" is slightly inaccurate, haha. Bill won the restaurant when it was put up as collateral in a card game by one of my friend's grandfathers.
November 20, 201213 yr I used to love going to Walts as a child with my family for special events but I really thought the place went downhill the last few years it was open. Food was average at best and the place was really getting rundown. Glad to see they are re-opening and will certainly give it a chance under new ownership.
November 20, 201213 yr I agree with BZ. My grandma worked there for YEARS as a waitress when it was THE nice place to go in NKY. Problem is that the interior was never updated from the time Bill took it over. I look forward to the modernization of it. Can't wait to get that rye bread.

November 20, 201213 yr ^ When you walked in you saw one of the problems right away, most of the customer base was in their 60's and up, not too many younger people and never was there anything done to bring them in. I kind of liked the interior to a point, especially the bar area, it wasn't like the crap you see every where else, where every where else looks the same. I agree that the last few years it went down hill, the ribs were still good, but when two of the daughters put the incoming money up their noses, that tends to happen.

November 20, 201213 yr I can remember going there when i was younger and thinking that it was the best place ever. When I was in high school though (five or six ish years ago), I can remember two separate occasions where the service was an absolute joke. The first time I didn't leave a tip. The second time my date and I were seated, our waiter got us our drinks and then didn't come over to us the rest of the night. We waited for about an hour, and the only reason that we waited that long is because we were having a nice conversation. We ended up going to eat at Arby's. The next morning I told my dad about it, and it being the second time hearing about me getting poor service there, he went down and spoke with whoever was in charge there at the time. They gave him vouchers for free meals, but I don't think we ever used them.
