With that defense and Alabama often having trouble on offense, why would someone think ND would get blown out? I would see it more as an all field goal game.

Your thinking is not whacky by any means.

Bama O is a run-dominated O. ND D is strong against the run.

Am I the only one pulling for Georgia in the SEC Championship? I would love to see a Georgia/Notre Dame BCS Championship.

If Barkley were playing I really believe that SC would've won this game. Now Kiffin is fighting for his job......who would get SC if he's fired?

I like Georgia much, much more than I like Alabama. If the potential title opponent were, say, Oregon or Kansas State, then I would be pulling for Georgia. But because this is Notre Dame, the traditionalist in me wants to see the two most storied football programs go head to head.

Didn't the USC Athletic Director say Kiffin would be back next year? I thought I saw that, but not certain.

Yeah..yeah.. Let him lose 5 games, and maybe lose his bowl game, and we'll see.

^ I think they'll bring him back regardless. But I won't cry if they cut him loose.

For a team that is "irrelevant" (see Rick Reilly's wonderful piece prior to this year Notre Dame Irish have relegated themselves to insignificance - ESPN) those Irish sure do get the spotlight. College Gameday will be there and it will be the 8:00pm prime time ABC game...So for those keeping track that makes 3 College Gamedays (Stanford, Oklahoma, USC) and 4 prime time ABC games (Mich. St, Oklahoma, BC, USC) for ND. And we're not the ones with the 2 Billion dollar contract with ESPN.

As for the game... I'm nervous. Anytime you play USC @ USC it is tough. Add our recent struggles, and that just adds more reason to worry. I'm not buying Barkley is out till I see him with a cap on Sat. It just seems like Kiffin to pull something like that.

I'm for Georgia. I never pull for Alabama.

With Barkley being out it obviously helps Notre Dame. However USC is still very talented and very dangerous receivers, and the backup QB is suppose to have a strong arm than Barkley. Now that means nothing if he is not accurate and does not make the right reads though. It should be a good game and I hope Notre Dame pulls it out.

Fight On!!!!!!!

Hopefully Notre Dame goes in with the Oklahoma recipe for success. Run the ball and play defense. Now Kelly loves to throw the ball around the field, and Golson had some moments last week to make you think he could be great at chucking it 35 times, but that is not what got them to where they are this week. Keep it conservative and try to keep the Trojans off balance. The play makers USC has at WR do scare me.

Your spot on. Kelly has done that in the past. I think it might have been the game last year vs USC where all of sudden he was a passing machine, when the running game had worked well up to that point.

ND can't play not to lose. The good news is this team has faced adversity all year. If they get down early I'm not going to be freaking out. Golson seems to play very well on the road as well. Says he likes when people are against him.

USC's new QB is Max Whitek. Went to high school with Barkley at Mater Dei.

In 2011, USC signed the #2 and #3 "pro-style" QBs coming out of high school. Whitek was #3.The #2 kid will be his backup this weekend.

Wow, surprised that both would sign with the same school. Pretty impressive recruiting.
