No. As I have posted often on BGP, there aren't many sophomores that get playing time at Beechwood. I have seen freshmen come in after freshmen season and play on special teams during the playoffs. That is not a rarity. Every once in a while one of those freshmen might get worked in for some reps. But to have freshmen starting after not even dressing for a varsity or JV game all season - nope, can't remember that ever happening. I believe there are a couple factors at play. One, you have a very special group of freshmen who have the skill, size, speed and strength to compete at varsity level. Two, all the options on varsity had been tried and none had worked well enough so the coaches gave the freshmen a shot at winning positions. To their credit, they have seized the opportunity and made the plays.

I'll take the Beechies by a td 42-35. Before Fieger I would of taken Frankfort..Now that he gives them more options I believe the Tigers pull this one out..

Fieger is absolutely the key to the game. Just don't throw any picks. If he stays away from interceptions, I like Beechwood's chances.

Comes down to the Panthers stopping the BW running game. Panthers have to force some punts and turnovers.

Certainly a couple of them have. I think a couple others have realized the difference between Freshman and Varsity Ball. I watched some video of Combs blocking in Friday's game. Very Very Impressive. Hope he can keep it up vs a good team like Frankfort.

 

To me the key is to take control early. If the Tigers let the panthers go up early it's going to be a very tough night. I like how our defense is playing. With a healthy Nussbaum, Justice getting some reps and a deep linebacking crew in general, it's a totally different world and much harder to for a team to put up significant numbers.

 

I would not want to be a blocking back or ball carrier coming through the line to face these guys.
