Bronson Arroyo, Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Zack Cozart, Drew Stubbs and Jay Bruce are all among the three finalists for the National League award at their position. Votto and Phillips won last year. It was Phillips third award. Arroyo won in 2010. Cozart, Stubbs and Bruce would be first-time winners. The awards will be announced Tuesday on ESPN2 beginning at 9 p.m. That’s where the ‘finalist’ thing comes in — adds to the drama and all that. Managers and coaches vote on the awards. I still think Phillips has the best shot among the Reds, even though Darwin Barney of the Cubs won the Fielding Bible award. October 29, 201213 yr 1B - I think Votto missed too much time, for the voters to consider him as the winner. I think they'll go with LaRoche from Washington. 2B - Phillips had another good year, but I agree that Barney for the Cubs will probably get it. SS - I think it'd be a shock for Cozart to win the thing as a rookie. I think voters will go for the veteran Rollins from Philly instead. CF - Stubbs should be honored just to have been "nominated", but I don't think he'll get a sniff of this, this year. McCutchen (Pittsburgh) or Bourne (Atlanta) would be my favorites. RF - Bruce had a good year for the Reds, but I don't know if he seperated himself from the rest...so, I'll go with Jason Heyward from Atlanta instead. P - Bronson winning it two years ago helps, as his name has been in this conversation before. I think he's actually the Reds best chance to pick it up, although I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Kershaw from LA took it home instead.
October 29, 201213 yr Agree that Votto missed too much time, but if you just looked at a highlight real, he is as solid on D as any 1st baseman. I think that Phillips is hands down the best at his position. Should win it. Cozart will have most voters thinking he'll win multiple GG so let's go older this year. That's a shame. Stubbs' only game these days is his glove and even that isn't good enough to win this season. I love me some Jay Bruuuuuce, but do enough voters? Probably not. Arroyo will win it again. I'm gonna 2, possibly 3, out of the 6 will win one.
