Not even close. You're right. Phillips is a walking, talking, highlight reel every night. He is a magician with an incredibly large bag of tricks. He had more errors because he has incredible range for a 2B. Darwin Barney had his big no-error streak going because he plays it safe. In his interview, even he said that he is "plain Jane" and doesn't "play with any extra flair". I think Phillips has gotten ripped this year. First, at the All-Stars, now with the Gold Gloves.
October 31, 201213 yr Ryne Sandberg was another who won gold gloves. Got a ridiculous scoring cushion at home, and had the range of LRCW. Either way, I'd take BP every single day of the week up the middle of my defense if I made out a lineup and the freedom to choose anyone I wished.

If you mean Barney is "playing it safe" by having 70 more Putouts than Phillips and 94 more Defensive chances (Putouts+Assists+Errors) than Phillips, then you are absolutely right. If you mean comparing Phillips playing balls that are not his according to scorers, as opposed to Barney playing 2B and taking 2 steps to the left or to the right.
