What part of my argument about ENROLLMENT SIZE are you guys missing? You keep bringing up all these factors and from post #1 I am dealing strictly with enrollment size and how it doesn't matter. Your other points not talking about ENROLLMENT SIZE are my whole point. It doesn't matter how big your school is. It matters how good your kids are(substance), how they are allowed to attend there(zoning rules, open enrollment, etc), where your money comes from(tuition, boosters, profits) and the development of your program from K-12.

Does SC have any US senators send their grandchildren there to play football? How about sons of NFL hall of famers??? Proximity to an urban center is a major factor.

Glad you brought up Mike Mitchell. He left a school that has a larger enrollment than Highlands to attend Highlands. Size matters?

Couldn't tell you. I was in Boyle County hoping he would be ineligible so we would have a better chance to win. Either way, this isn't college.

They are not born in Ft. Thomas or Louisville, they just migrate there!!!!!

 

If you lived in NKY and you were a stud that wanted to play on a great team, where would YOU go? It's not like it's a bad school either! If the kid wants to play for a great program, it's an easy discussion with Mom and Dad because the academics are very good too. That's why you see kids going there...combination of program and education. They have built that there and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

 

Maybe the other schools that continue to complain about it (Simon Kenton) should look in the mirror and do something about it instead of whining about how other schools do it. Figure out how to keep kids from leaving! Scott County does it. Boyle County does it. When Boone was really good, kids didn't leave their school. Ryle is down this year, but I don't see kids leaving from their school. May be wrong, but I don't think we have many kids that came in from Camp Co.

The 2004 season was when Mitchell left CovCath and played for HHS, Coach Ray coached CovCath that 2004 season and then retired as the head Football Coach of CovCath after that season. Coach Rodenberg was hired for the 2005 season!

Scott County does it because there is no other HS within 20 miles. Therefore, there is no competition for athletes. They intentionally avoid building a second school for athletic purposes.

You listed Boone in there. When Boone was really good there were less schools in the area to choose from.

Not necessarily. You could rent an apartment in Colerain's district, then commute once residency is established!

This is false. Highlands is not playing up. They are a 4A school per enrollment numbers.

Highlands and LexCath are the two smallest schools in the current 4A.

 

I believe before the new 6 class manipulation of limiting 1A and 6A to only 32 schools Highlands was 3A size.

The bottom line is that enrollment does matter, does influence success, but it is way too small an influence to be used to classify programs.

Too many big schools aren't any good....and some small schools are great.
