Birds played as well as I expected. Disappointment of the game is Highlands not getting the TD before half. That was big imo.

FWIW, a little Birdie told me after the game that ole Joe Frank did his last Highlands game ever as a referee. Just sayn..................

The off setting personal foul call in the first half was a joke! #10 from Elder could have easily been tossed from the game.

I know that Joe Frank's crew often gets a lot of the big games. Tonight they certainly kept their flags to themselves most of the game. There were no holding penalties for either team. I know holding goes on all of the time but the one that stood out to me was first drive for Elder, #6 for HHS is about to grab the QB ten yards deep and gets grabbed from behind. Those have to be called. (QB ran for a 1st down on the play) The aforementioned offsetting personal foul was a flag thatJoe threw himself. I would love to know what Joe saw from the HHS player that made it offset. Apparently lying on the ground while someone repeatedly slams your head to the ground is now a personal foul. The flag on the kickoff return for a TD was signaled a block below the waist. I did not see it, but the marker for the violation was at the 18 on the hashmark nearest the stands and the penalty walked off from there. Amazingly, the violation was called by the referee on the opposite 40 yard line on the other sideline.

If I am Dale I would not be pleased with this crew's effort on the night. If I am the head of officials who looks at these tapes I have to be shaking my head right now.

I would also add, nobody has said that the officials cost H the game and neither am I. I will also add that Dale and the Highlands coaches never seem to get upset with officials the way that many other coaching staffs do. You never see the sideline gestures or yelling at officials and such antics.

What's the history with Joe Frank and HHS?

No way did the officiating effort last nite cost the Birds a W. I for one am just very disappointed that a White Hat with so much experience and with a respectful track record always seem to land the BIG games in NKY including Highlands and always seem to swallow his whistle and get caught watching the game instead of officiating it.

Not a knock, this happens to the best of em. It was a great game to watch last nite, thats for sure................Just sayn..................

The explanation to the Highlands sidelines was "we didnt really see what happened so we thought it would be best to just call it offsetting"

4000 + saw the Elder kid abusing Henderson of Highlands at the 20 well after the play except the zebras.

From the little bit of experience that I have of the game, a kid usually has to be doing a little bit of something something to get the kind of reaction that Henderson got. LOL

Probably a good "no call" not to eject him because nobody wants to see a key player of any team sat down especially in such a big game. But the ole saying that the guy that swings last always goes to jail didnt work in this one. LOL

Joe Frank is a great official and is about to be honored with the service award at the NkADA hall of fame.

I can't imagine him having an off night that would be worthy of being black balled.

He did!!!

He did!!!

That is funny! :D

I was thinking the same thing. Can someone educate those of us that are in the dark about this please?

He did!!!

I didn't read anything in the update thread or in the final game thread that mentioned the officiating. So what's with the complaining now? It must have took the overnight for the grapes to go sour. It changed from the Birds simply getting beat by a better team to blame the officials and have a great official banned from Highlands games.

So here's what you said in the other threads RB:

The kid was getting 5yds before anyone touched him. The holes were huge that train was running through..

It was 10-10 at half. Highlands had a td dropped that would of tied the game up late in the 3rd quarter. Next play HHS tries a screen and the de picks it off for Elder. They score a few plays later that puts them up 14..Instead of a tie you are down 14.. That was a huge momentum change to say the least.. HHS was just too small on the defensive side of the ball to stop Elder's power running game..

The Elder kid pounding the HHS kids head in the ground is the obviously one. The phantom block below the waist on the kickoff return for a td. The flag was thrown 30yds away from the play on the other side of the field. Numerous holds on the Elder offensive line or shall I say tackles etc. No one is perfect and he didn't cost the Birds the game but it wasn't his best effort by any means..Dale never gets irrate at the officials and he was the most animated about some calls that I have seen..

Are you saying it's "phantom" because you've seen the tape?

Official was right in front of me. He had a clear view of the area he was looking at.

Show me where anyone has said the lose was due to the officials.
