IMO wearing pink is getting out of control. Why give Nike, Adidas, etc all the money, just donate the money to the cancer research fund, I'm sure they need it more that some sport store or Wal Mart.

Austin is a good kid and a nice player. I hope both his father and Coach Jewell just let this whole thing blow over.

I would rather give $50 to cancer research than to spend $50 on pink gloves.

If the kid broke the rules plain and simple he is wrong.

 

However, the reason I jumped in this thread is because many of you have brought up points I have had a problem with. I think the NFL has an agenda. Please check out the below thread and give your opinion:

The problem I have is, if this is a team rule, then why didn't the coach pull the player back into the locker room and talk to him about it before he went out on the field to warm up instead of waiting til the game was over to mention it?

The players should have asked for permission to wear the gloves, otherwise, follow the team rules. Also, the story should have never been taken to the newspaper in my opinion, makes it appear that the parent has an agenda or does not like the fact that Coach Jewell is pretty strict.

This was also the lead story on WLEX 11:00 news out of Lexington last night, guess it must have been a light day for real news yesterday. This only undermines the coach, and therefore the team. Take your punishment, like the other kid, and move on.

Regardless of the coach's reasons, he is the coach. Kid must follow the rules and doing anything on your own against the rules is a bad idea. And if you do and you get cross-ways of the coach, suck it up, accept your punishment, and move on without being a distraction. That goes for the parents too. If you disagree with a rule, talk to the coach about it man to man, don't go spouting off publicly about it.

 

The complaint that Coach Jewell yelled at him in front of the whole team made me laugh out loud. Are we that weak? Football coaches must have changed a lot since I was in high school if they only yell at players in private. SMH

I cannot believe that this has gotten so much publicity. I kind of feel sorry for that kid. Not because he was yelled at in front of the team, or had to run extra sprints, but because his dad took this nonsense to the paper, and it's been on the news. Poor kid will probably never step foot on the field again because his dad is a baby

My coach once proclaimed in front of the entire team that I had "hands like feet." I survived.

I don't defend either and don't have a problem with either, but the Dad said that the coach said something prior to the game starting. So clearly it WAS a problem before the Big Loss.

Are we to assume that the coach didn't notice the gloves during the game? I'm struggling with that one.

 

Coach is not blameless here IMO.
