Campbell County plays 4 teams in the southern 10th this year-Mason (H), Harrison (H), Nicholas (H) and Augusta with the region being held at Mason. Brossart has 6 10th region games that may require a little gas in the tank for one team or the other. 2 home and 4 away. Bracken, St. Pats (H), Pendleton (H), Harrison, Augusta, Mason. I'm assuming they would be home/away contracts.

In addition the All A will be held in Nicholas County and the region will be at Mason. No 9th region team drives that much within their region. A couple teams in the 8th may feel some of that same pain though.

That is why some of the 9th may resist the idea. I'm sure when they shipped off the Campbell County teams to the 10th there was a lot of kicking and screaming, but also think they have found the 10th has some great places to watch hoops, loyal fans and the regional at Mason's field house is a classic.

I love this topic! There are so many variables that come into play in making the decision to realign. Obviously travel cost for today's schools and ability to compete are important. A factor not to realign is TRADITION! I went through and realign the whole state about 3 years ago. When i get home tonight i am going to find that proposal and repost it. I think my alignment will be close to the state's if they have the guts to pull the trigger and do away with TRADITION!

I like to see Fleming County back in the 10th. Maybe relign districts with each other.

Montgomery Co. to the 16th and Clark to the 11th. Brings back Fleming to the 10th and adds another Northern KY school. Since Cooper is already in I'd guess Boone County. That would solve all the consternation we have every year over where the region is to be played.

I am a bit confused by your comment! Cooper and Boone in the 10th makes no sense what so ever!

That is correct. Why would you move Boone to the 10th? That wouldn't make any sense. What I think he was suggesting is did you mean SK since they are closer geographically.

One thing I have heard is that the 44th district will move to the 12th region. This would be VERY beneficial to Model, Berea, and Madison Southern. It really doesn't matter what region Madison Central is in.

If Montgomery was in the 16th it would be a 70-80 mile one way drive to play teams in the 63rd and 64th district. It would be 50- 60 miles one way to teams in the 62nd. Doesn't really seem like there would be any natural rivals for them other than maybe Rowan.

So don't play 'em. There's no rule that says you have to play all your region opponents. Scott Co. only played two or three 8th Region games a year in the regular season for several years before they moved to the 11th.

Exactly, many teams don't play all teams in their region. It just son't make sense to have Clark and Montgomery in the 10th when Fleming and Lewis are within 20 minutes of the school. Every other school with 20 minutes is in this region.

Travel doesn't matter these days. We can say that the price of fuel is an issue, but look at most schedules and there are always a couple of games that are really far away. If you have an opponent in the 60-70 mile range, schedule one game a season that alternates annually.
