As for the game, HC is grossly undermanned and will be lucky to get out of the 1st round. Beechwood only attempted two passes? They will need to pass more if they want to get out of the region with all the injuries they have encountered.

 

Sorry if it offended anyone from a religious side. I see Crossbacks more as a label used to identify the strongest followers of Holy Cross, similar to Cheeseheads for the Packers. Of course there is a religious connection and I used Crossbacks call out that group of HC fans and the hypocritical nature of the posts I have seen in this thread.

 

As to Beechwood and your game related comment (thank you for getting us back in that direction), yes the Tigers have a lot of work to do on the passing game.

Look guys I think that fmkj statement was out of what he has herd. I don't know him but I would think that where it came from is people talking. I can also tell you that those things were going on threw out the game but hey its football and its going to happen. I can tell you that we don't do that and I hope no coaches ever teach that anywhere or at any level! I can also tell you that I know that Kos was upset that when his kid was down he didn't like that the other coach walked out on the field to see if the player was hurt bad. He felt that was not his place to do that. This is what I heard happen on the field. I know that in our game last year that Somerset's coaches were telling there players to take out our QB and Receivers it was crazy!! So I HOPE that it was the kids that did that and not BW staff cause I would be crushed if that was the case. Good game see you guys next year!!

Gave you an easy one just to get under your skin. Must be a soar spot. Specifically told you that I wasnt there to ensure you that it was second hand, but it is all I heard about. And I dont get it. I have never heard of the term Cross Backs as any form of derogatory term and I'm sure VOR meant nothing even close to that. There are a number of Catholics at Beechwood

 

As for the passing game... In the middle of the game I kind of thought the same thing, but after thinking about it for a day or so, I would say we actually attempted more than that, but QB was forced or chose to run it. Also, while it's nice to work on a passing game, the running game was not being stopped, so why pass. Doesn't conventional wisdom say Run until you need to pass.

No offense taken by anyone for the crossback comment so dont feel that their was. I did not say anything about brilz, I posted a statement about a situation and threw in a possible question that may have been asked, kind of funny one to. Get off your horse and you might see that.

Its funny on here that everyone wants to jump on people for hurting a kids feelings but they want to push the cheap plays that happen in a game aside and ignore it.

Like I said I was not at the game so I can not give specifics but it is all I heard about.

And finally, no one is blaming HC's season on anything, its just easy to throw these things out at suck a proud program and its dedicated followers because it happens and I cant see a reason that it does.

Coming from a hugely reliable source that was at the game, in the stands, Kozerski was quite upset at what he percieved as Beechwood players throwing low blows in the pile. This comes from a source that has zero ties to either team. My source told me that he's heard of this going on with the Beechwood players in years past as well. I trust my source 100% with anything.

Here is my question, the player that was hurt was an offensive lineman, just how do coach Brilz offensive lineman, throw low blocks to HC's offensive lineman? That is what you might call an absolute impossibility.

Once again your 10000% reliable source has "heard" of this going on with Beechwood in years past, that determines nothing.

I was at the game, as I said before, the two perceived dirty plays I saw was when HC #3 took a cheap shot at the QB, and on the second to last play of the game a HC offensive lineman chop blocked a BW linebacker, he was flagged for the cheap shot.

This will be the only time I post on this subject. I played for Koz when he was more hands on with is o-line, I also played for Brilz in the All-Star game. As far as coaching their "techniques are pretty similar due to their professional backgrounds I'm assuming. They both teach proper "chop blocks" but not illegal blocks. As for the Koz/Brilz fiasco I did not see this because I had left the game out of frustration with my team. I do know there is a past history between the 2 but I do not know the whole story. So anything said between the 2 would blow up all it needs is a spark. As for playing for Brilz I can say this, he did treat us HC players differently at the practices because of where we came from and who we played for. I would like to say that this didn't ruin my all-star experience but it did diminish it somewhat, because of how he treated us. On a side note I can honestly say that the rest of the BW staff is excellent and I enjoyed playing for them overall Noel Rash is a great coach.

The first play is the play that prompted the back and forth (keep your eyes on the highlighted player--and keep in mind .. Beechwood is on defense in this clip)

The second play should quell the noise about how one team played so clean while the other wasn't (this is example of went on all game--there was a penalty here .. on Beechwood ... for illegal contact to the head--which was behind the play).

 

Feel free to make up your own mind.

 

Nice work Quick. We pretty much knew the stuff about cheap shot blocks was a bunch of crap when it happened on HC offense, but I didn't see the cheap shot in the endzone. I had heard about it from the boys. What a punk!

I was not at the game, but I have seen the film. I am not emotionally tied to either team. My observation of the game (film only) is that it was a typical HS football game. There were "questionable" plays (not many) from both teams, but nothing I saw as outrageous. Even the play highlighted above was an over zealous and obviously frustrated player trying to strip the ball 5 yards deep in the endzone. He wasn't throwing punches, he foolishly was trying to dislodge a football 5 yards after it crossed the goalline. Not an uncommon play to see.

 

As to the controversy between the two ex-nfl players now working as coaches. In the heat of the battle competitors sometimes say things they later regret.

 

It is also my observation that both coaches involved are the type that if their on your side.... you love em. If there on the other side ... not so much.

 

Final observation: I know a couple other ex-nfl players who are not big fans of Coach Brilz, not because of how he acts or coaches but how he got into the league.

 

If you remember he was a "replacement" player. Many of the stong NFL Player association guys never forgave those players for crossing the line. Perhaps some of that emotion was involved last Thursday evening.

He was sitting on top of him (after a good defensive effort I will add) and then reaches down to Punch which then turned into a shot with the forearm to the facemask. That is not a continuation of a single play. Certainly far more than an "over zealous" player. You were right in that he was expressing his frustration, but it wasn't part of the play. I give him a break. He's was a frustrated young man and I get that, but don't try to call it part of the play.
