No blood at all. I am glad he is back. But it proved not to help to much against Lee. Lee played subpar tonite poor outside shooting and higher than average TO's. No answer for T(big&rich)Rich as he owned the paint.

I said even if Tyson Gross could come back and play tonight, it wouldn't make any difference. Lee has a good team this year. Why make all the angry conspiracy theory arguments against me and Owsley County when Lee County WON the game, and no doubt has the best team. Celebrate and have fun.....don't go home mad when you've won.

I agree ARC, I would rather have faced Smith now at this game. My problem comes with the deception, but I guess some people will do whatever it takes. I thought T Rich had an awesome game. He scored big and played well with several great assists. His ball handling skills as a "post man" are improved over years past.

Were the Owsley officials suppose to put out a press release that Smith was playing tonight?

 

I do know they had been waiting on the KHSAA to give them the final okay on Robert's return. For all we know, they may have just recieved it today or very recently.

 

What reason would they have to deceive Lee County? I mean, they're 1-10 on the year. Smith walking out on the floor is really going to shake the Bobcats up

 

Lee is one of the top 2 teams in the region. Robert Smith should be the least of their worries.

I never said Smith didn't play well, I said it didn't help. Though he did throw up several air balls. I believe his face mask was bothering him though as I thought he spent a lot of time adjusting it. Whatever my gripe with how his return was handled, I do hope his injury is not serious and that he is okay?

 

Also, I was glad to see Neeley play and that he wasn't injured too badly. As I have said, I think Neeley is a good kid and wish him the best.

 

I guess my position is getting misrepresented or misread by whomever, but whatever. I wish the kids of Owsley good luck. I would have thought the last thing Smith would have wanted was more controversy.

Neeley is injured badly. He has damaged tendons on each side of his right thumb.Fortunately he is left handed, but it has to hamper his ball handling. He probably shouldn't have played tonight, and yesterday he told me he wouldn't be playing. It will no doubt bother him the rest of the year to some degree.

It's truly ashame that the Lee County faithful cannot win without anymore class than is being shown here. Everyone has proven their point about Smith's return...that it doesn't make that much of a difference. Any kid that is forced to sit out for a year and return into an already bad situation is bound to have some rust built up.

 

As far as your accusations of the Smith kid "unofficially" practicing... from what I saw tonight, there was no need for him to know the offensive plays because number one, there were very few times when one was ran, and number two, when they were, they seemed to be geared more for Neeley than for anyone.

 

And, finally, I personally feel that everyone should stay out of Owsley County's business. It was nothing to Lee County if Smith took the floor tonight or not. I think that was between the Owsley County Officials and the KHSAA.

 

I have had the privilege of knowing the Smith kid for some time now, and he is truly a class act. It's just ashame that everyone can't give him the support and encouragement that this kid deserves. He's suffered enough. I think it's time that everyone back off so that Smith can relax and do what he does best.

Very true professor Robert did brake his nose two tears ago playing baseball I was there that evening, and just recently had his nose rebroken. I think I might be waring a nose guard too.

But I am sure Robert could care less what people think he is the one that went through it all. Owsley has basically ran the same offense for years so why wouldn't he know the plays.

For those concerned about Robert Smith's faceguard, it had nothing to do with basketball. I just called someone and got the story. Robert injured his nose playing baseball....two years ago....and put off surgery that the doctor told him he would eventually have to have, until about two months ago. The injury was beginning to interfere with his breathing, so is parents decided on the surgery. He had to have his nose re-broken, and re-set. His doctor told him he would have to wear the faceguard in any contact sport that he played the rest of the year.

 

All these accusations and assumptions from some of the Lee County posters are shameful.This is a young man who has sat out a YEAR. How much more blood do you want from him?????

 

All I meant was it seemed like the faceguard bothered him a little as he kept adjusting it. Usually when someone isn't used to wearing something like that it tends to hamper his or her performance. Regardless of talent, wearing something uncomfortable on your face cannot help one's performance. Glad his surgery went okay and hope it helps his breathing. Went through a similar situation with a family member and know how badly such an injury can affect one's ability to breath.

The first thing that struck me was the accusation toward the Professor that he had mislead everyone about the Smith kid playing. He has always presented himself as a stand up guy as far as I'm concerned and.....who would think that a "big surprise" like that would have an outcome on the game. Heck, teams travel and play other teams that they have never seen play nor do they know who's on the team so that seems silly to me.

And, from what I've read on here histirically, Smith was due to return in early January wasn't he? And, I never viewed him as breaking transfer rules. It's just a fact that if you transfer without the family moving, you have to set out a year unless all parties agree otherwise. We've seen it both ways, coming and going at Breathitt. And I wasn't at the game but I'm pretty sure the Lee coach earned his T. He got one the last time Lee played Breathitt and could have had a couple. Not criticizing, he just coaches with a lot of enthusiam. Now I'll butt out of your all's business!

Coach Wright does coach with a lot of enthusiasm and am surprised he doesn't get more Technicals. Were I a referee, I'd probably have a trigger happy T formation. At the time he received this T however, he was turned around with his back to the referee who was at half court, and talking to his players.

Our cheerleaders were in the out of bounds area under the basket and one of the officials elbowed one of the cheerleaders pretty hard in the chest. She has a bruise from it today. The cheerleaders were in the same typical formation all cheerleaders are usually in in that position. It was during an out of bounds/in bounding play. She thought it was intentional, but I doubt officials make habits of hitting girls. Things get pretty crowded under a basket at times, I can imagine it's difficult to avoid any contact.

The game had a horrible technical called on Lee's bench for no reason, the coaches were talking to their players DURING A TIME OUT and a technical was called. This was after one of the officials elbowed one of Lee Co's Cheerleaders in the chest and allowed Neeley to verbally abuse him all night. The Verbal Abuse included plenty of foul language which never warranted a technical. This was also after an OBVIOUS goal tending call was missed. Despite the attempt to take Coach Wright out of the game, he still coached an excellent game and led his team to a commanding victory.

First of all I want to say congratulations to the bobcats on their win. With that said, this post has really gave me a good laugh. "Attempt to take Coach Wright out of the game" that isn't hard to do at all. I have watched his bobcats play about 7-8 times this year. I find it hard to watch the game for watching their coach. Does some of his assistant coaches coach from the stands?? The reason I ask is he is ALWAYS turning around to see what the fans of Lee County reaction is to whatever is going on, on the floor. In all my years of watching high school basketball I have NEVER saw a coach try to pump up the fans as Coach Wright does. I mean really, do you see Al Holland waving a towel to the fans at PCC, I think not. :confused:

He does get fired up...I feel that the "T's" will be coming more and more..especially during tournament time.
