Perhaps a nice group hug would do the trick. LOL. I've not heard about the posters though.

From my view point at the game last night some Lee County fans did have some inappropriate signs about some of Owsley's players. If you are going to make signs you should stick to making them about the team. Not individual players. This is not classy at all.

 

As for whether or not Owsley decieved the world about Robert Smith. I don't think it matters. From my rules background there isnt any where in the KHSAA rule book that states that a school must contact the opposing teams, coaches, school administrators and 6 major news networks that a player is going to be in a game. Maybe next time Owsley County needs to have their starting lineup and players ran across the screen on CNN and FOX news.

To me it sounds like Owsley's fans are being a little sensitive after their team clearly tried to "pull one" on Lee. Almost as if Lee would freak out when Neeley and Smith came onto the floor. But, I think Lee fans may have went a little to far by calling some of the members here liars.

 

On another point, I heard from some one who was at the game that Smith and Neeley argued a little bit about who was going to bring the ball up and who was going to shoot. Is this true? If so, dosen't bode well for Owsley.

They were hoping he would have been eligible and had been disappointed when they thought they knew he wouldn't be eligible; because if anything seeing Smith play would give them the opportunity to "scout" for district games. As far as I know none of the Lee County players, nor none of the fans were not wishing to see Mr. Smith, nor were they "scared" or "intimidated" by the possiblity of Mr. Smith's presence.

Now for the other thing. To quote your good friend Professor, the fans are not the school officials are they? More than likely kids, huh? I also heard that a sign was taken down before the game according to an Owsley fan...but, sorry that the first amendment allows these kids to bring signs in, but it wasn't the Lee Co admin im sure.

 

Like I posted before, lets read all the posts before posting. I wasn't even at the game last night and I'm sure that it wasn't as bad as EITHER side says, but thats the beauty of fans. If you listen to both sides, about somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

I would hope it was nothing personal. I don't know who decorated the gym or put up the posters, but I didn't see any personal ones. Perhaps it was taken down before the game. I would certainly think that if an official from Lee Co. did see it he/she would have removed it.

I don't think anyone was attempting to "scare" one of the top teams in the region on their home floor with one player walking on the floor . For one to believe that is a little bit of a stretch.

I think lets leave the Owsley/Lee rivalry on the court. This post is getting heated for me and I'm not from either county!! lol. I love High School basketball. Lol. Maybe I need a hobby and not live on this forum.

Maybe one of the kids put it up and the Lee school officials weren't aware of it....just like the school officials weren't aware of some Owsley kids saying to Lee fans before the game that they wouldn't be playing that night. I guess kids will be kids.
