He does get fired up...I feel that the "T's" will be coming more and more..especially during tournament time.

 

I will have to agree with you sfs.......The officials have to be sick of it as most of us watchers!!

 

First of all I want to say congratulations to the bobcats on their win. With that said, this post has really gave me a good laugh. "Attempt to take Coach Wright out of the game" that isn't hard to do at all. I have watched his bobcats play about 7-8 times this year. I find it hard to watch the game for watching their coach. Does some of his assistant coaches coach from the stands?? The reason I ask is he is ALWAYS turning around to see what the fans of Lee County reaction is to whatever is going on, on the floor. In all my years of watching high school basketball I have NEVER saw a coach try to pump up the fans as Coach Wright does. I mean really, do you see Al Holland waving a towel to the fans at PCC, I think not. :confused:

Actually, Coach Wright has matured along with Lee County's team. In the beginning of his what will hopefully be a long tenure at Lee County, Coach Wright did interact a lot with the fans, but this year he rarely if ever turns to the fans. I see nothing wrong with a coach trying to get the fans involved and believe he can be in the game and communicate with the fans. His youthful enthusiasm has actually begun to bring fans back to the stands at Lee County and has motivated his players to do well. I think his 11-3 record proves that he's "in the game" and speaks for itself. Coach Wright has led this team to victories over some quality teams, and accomplished this year what no coach has done in Lee County in 20 years, a sweep of the Owsley County Owls. Is he enthusiastic? Yes. But just because some coach from PCC doesn't do something doesn't mean that people who do are wrong.

I can't wait till tourney time. Should be some good basketball, and some good technical fouls called. The last time I watched Lee at Owsley I couldn't help but to watch his actions. I actually found myself getting angry because they were "blasting" Owsley and he kept pressing them and jumping around like a maniac. I don't know him personally, but I don't like to see coaches coach like he does.

I do happen to know him personally and think he's an incredible coach and a terrific person. Lee County couldn't ask for a better coach, as he actually cares about his kids. He goes above and beyond just coaching to ensuring that these kids get the best education and the best out of life they can.

 

I can remember a few games when Owsley was "blasting" Lee Co. and the press continued from the Owls; that's basketball. There's no "mercy rule" in basketball. Trust me, there have been times in Lee Co's not so distant past that a mercy rule would be welcomed; but that's nothing more than sour grapes on a loyal fans behalf.

 

A lot of people "don't care" for Pitino's coaching style, but you can't argue with results. Coach Wright's stlye reminds me of Pitino, and I have to say, given the choice I'd take Pitino's style and record over Tubby Smith's any day of the week.

The deception that was so blatant was when Neeley told me FACE TO FACE BEFORE THE GAME that he was not playing, and the fact that both smith and neeley didn't bring gear into the gym. Don't you agree that's a little deceptive.

A lot to read in this post. Congratulations first of all to Lee County. I thought Smith wasn't eligable till Friday when we play the Owls. I hope that OC didn't really mislead like everyone says. I hope Neeley didn't lie right before a game. That really saddens me. Let's put this sad episode behind us and move on now. It's a shame that Owsely did this, but, they were looking for an edge against an obviously better Lee County team. Take it as a compliment Lee County fans. I'm glad Smith played. Anyone got a scouting report on Robert Smith? And will Neeleys thumb be better come friday?

I think they are 2 DIFFRENT coaching styles there. Coach Combs is a class act.

Well, i was there early enough to see their team enter into the gym. Every other player carried his bag into the gym except for those two giving the impression that they were not playing. Thats when I asked Neeley.

Smith is dangerous both inside and outside. As for Neeley, if I understand correctly from what I hear from those who know (take it for what it's worth); I don't think his thumb will be "better" but he can play. I'm sure it hampers his performance as it must be painful; but he seemed to play fine last night.

I was looking for a response from SFS. Does he know of any forthcoming technicals. Maybe he knows something everyone else doesn't about the officiating in the future. Just curious

To me it sounds like Owsley's fans are being a little sensitive after their team clearly tried to "pull one" on Lee. Almost as if Lee would freak out when Neeley and Smith came onto the floor. But, I think Lee fans may have went a little to far by calling some of the members here liars.

 

On another point, I heard from some one who was at the game that Smith and Neeley argued a little bit about who was going to bring the ball up and who was going to shoot. Is this true? If so, dosen't bode well for Owsley.
