Is it really an embarrassment when a 6A team puts one on a 2A team?

 

I think our perspective is often skewed in this state because outside of T and X big school football in KY is no where near what it should be. Because if it were, the small schools would quit playing the big schools because they would get pounded again and again.

Or maybe our top 1A and 2A schools are above the rest of the state as well.

 

I think you're right, just saying up here at least you can make the argument both ways.

More in reference to Lawnboy's consistent posts about being embarrassed by the loss. Wasnt trying to imply any NCC posters were making excuses. All the talk about losing to a 6A school being embarrassing, well maybe if CC was terrible and NCC was playing their best ball. However, at this point of the season the Breds should not worry about it and just play on. Like someone said earlier, they were 5-5 the one year and won the state championship.

Agree completely. This was the first time 6A CC beat 2A NewCath in 7 years. It's good to see CC back, but they SHOULD beat 2A schools the majority of times. Cooper is a great example of a school with numbers emerging as a power. In football more than any other sport numbers DO make a difference, especially when injuries come into play.

Totally agree, and mentioned in the SK/Beechwood thread, you will never see DI vs. D6 games in Ohio. Never see DI vs. D5, or D4 for that matter.

 

You don't see it in Ohio becasue they don't have to. So many schools playing at each level. In Kentucky if SK needs a game who can they schedule? They already play the big schools so its play a very good smaller program or travel all over the state (Danville, Pulaski, etc) which you see them having to do. If you are Beechwood most of the average smaller teams don't want to play you if they don't have to so they have to play selected bigger school. Look at NCC schedule, year in and year out they have several big schools (Dixie, Ryle, Campbell, etc.) on their schedule. I think in Kentucky your sometmes forced into playing up or down. In Ohio you don't have to.

And NCC people are not complaining or whinning. This gets them ready to compete for the playoffs and they know it.

Lawnboy IS NOT typical of how NCC fans feel. CC was clearly dominant, but no reason for NCC to be embarassed to the extent he implies. Some years small schools are going to be down when it comes to playing the BIGS, but you learn from it and go on. There are a lot of games to be played. judge the season after the playoffs, not before Labor Day.

I believe that CC beat NCC just a few years back at Newport Stadium. With the exception of 1 or 2 games, this has been an exciting annual contest. I hear that this contract will not be renewed in 2013. Is that correct?

I have no idea about the contract. If true, maybe the Camels will step up and schedule the Birds.

While Campbell County was dominant, you must have been sitting by yourself at this game, because the folks I was sitting with and talking to, during and after the game, were saying the same thing that I posted. I had two Campbell County parents comment to me as I was leaving the game that they were "shocked" they even won and by that margin, because in their words, "WE SUCK".

Obviously the parents who said that does not know too much about the game of football or or maybe their son had quit the team or does not play. Some parents are just plain ignorant.
