And I agree with another poster that NCC and Beechwood are both down by their standards. But, the 2A district is still going to come down to the HC/NCC game, and no A team in Beechwood's district is going to come near them.

 

As for 6A, I'm not sure fun is the word I'd choose to describe it. But, it will be competitive.

At this point the 'Breds have to keep in mind that several years ago they were 5-5 in regular season and won the state title. BUT, they must find some way to stop the other team from steamrolling on the ground. Pass defense is decent, but can't stop the run.

I think we must keep in mind that the small schools will run into these down years in talent because of pool of talent to choose from. We may be spoiled by those teams competing with the big boys year in and year out, but evenyually it catches up with you. No where else in the state do A and 2A teams consistently beat 5A and 6A schools. Most places they don't even play them. When these small schools get into their district and region games I'm not convinced these teams still won't make noise in the playoffs.

NCC has had some exceptional talent the past few years but it has moved on. Their talent this year has come back down to earth. They will still win their share of 2A games but they are going to have a hard time with some of the bigger schools.

The economy is a scapegoat. CC took it to the Breds and they just didn't respond.

This was utterly embarrassing!!!!!The Breds offense was pathetic at best! The defense......non-existent. Congrats to the Camels as they tore through the Breds like a fat lady at a Chinese buffet. I recent said that the Camels were slow, well I now see a team that is slower. The Breds played with ZERO heart in this one.

 

Camels get the scoring started on 54 yard TD pass from Tyler Durham with :50 left in the 1st quarter.

 

Durham scores on a 30 yard QB keeper with 1:02 left in the half to make 14-0. Following the kickoff, Cain's pass is tipped into the Camels defender for a pick and 3 plays later a 19 yard TD run (forgot who), and with :25 left in the half it's the Camels 21-0.

 

Breds finally dent the scoreboard with a safety as the snap goes over the Camels punter. with 1:28 remaining in the 3rd. Following the free kick on the 1st play Josh Cain finds a steaking Noah Freppon for a 45 yard TD pass and with 1:10 in the 3rd it's Campbell Co. 21-9. On the 1st play after the Breds kickoff, Durham races 65 yards for a TD and with :56.8 left in the 3rd it's 28-9.

 

17 ticks into the 4th Cain fumbles, for I think the 3rd time, and on the next play it's a 36 yard TD run for the Camels 11:43 remaining 35-9. At this point I stopped watching, but the Camels score with 5:25 in the 4th to make 42-9 and the Breds get a token 3yard TD run from Dylan Hayes to make 42-16 with under 3 :00 to go.

 

I get that the Breds have quite a few starters out, but this was a totally sad effort. When the Breds play good I'll be their biggest cheerleader, however, you lay an egg like tonight I'm not going to hold back. Again Congrats to the Camels on the "beatdown" of the Breds.

 

Is it really an embarrassment when a 6A team puts one on a 2A team?

 

I think our perspective is often skewed in this state because outside of T and X big school football in KY is no where near what it should be. Because if it were, the small schools would quit playing the big schools because they would get pounded again and again.

You think NCC and CC would play every year if CC did what it should do every year to NCC. The embarrasment should be that NCC scored 16 poinmts on a 6A school. This thread could get out of hand very quickly. HC, NCC, and BW for that matter are not typical for 1A and 2A football teams. Their rosters are not limited to kids from one or two small communities. They have kids from all over. NCC draws kids from all over Campbell County. To me that makes these schools very atypical of most small schools. As I replied to you in another thread about SK beating Beechwood, why would a big school ever want to schedule a smaller school? Its a no win situation for them. I do see the gap between big schools and small schools growing. Your Bellevues, Newports, that were once highly competitive with big schools no longer can keep up and the powers have taken some hits this year. Most of these teams do not play the big schools anymore for this reason. There is a huge difference between a 5A, 6A game/schedule and a 1A/2A game/schedule. Go watch Ludlow play Dayton and then watch Conner play Boone and tell me there is not a huge gap already. Its my contention that most small schools would get pounded and don't schedule already. The difference with Ohio is there are so many more schools playing football. Dvision 1 doesn't have to play down to fill out their schedule like they do in Kentucky. So the big schools, particularly in NKY, will have to schedule the traditional powers in 1A/2A or play some team from down state and make no gate money. Do you think SK or Boone wanted to play all those teams from out of the area? It was a good win for SK against BW and a good win for Campbell against NCC. Embarressed NCC scored 16 points? give me a break. They are a great program. Are the big schools at T, X or Highlands level? No, but who is?

CC should some class and put their second string in and NCC decided to keep their 1st string in and that is how they scored their last 7 points. To me NCC should be embarrased not CC. One problem that I have with all this talk about the divisions is that all the private schools pool from different counties and not just one area like CC. I went to a private school and we had kids from all over Northern Ky. When you put teams like NCC,Cov Cath, Beechwood, and Highlands you are not just pulling kids from your area you are pulling from all over Northern Ky. These athletes that are going to these schools are going for one reason and that is to win a championship so to me they may not have the # of kids that go to CC but they have the same amount of athletes. To me Cov Cath is a prime example and yes they put it to CC 3 weeks ago but they have around 600 kids in that to me puts them right at a large school once you would double that # if you would add in girls. They pull from all over Northern Ky but people think that since they beat a lot of the schools in Norhtern Ky they are a great program and I have to disagree. If you think about it how fair is it really when these private schools are pulling these kids in like they are from everywhere and then they play schools that actually pull from within their districts and they get beat and then have to listen to fools like you say they should be emarrassed. Totally agree, and mentioned in the SK/Beechwood thread, you will never see DI vs. D6 games in Ohio. Never see DI vs. D5, or D4 for that matter.

CC whipped NCC end of story. Take your medicine and get better. In the grand scheme of things this game will help NCC when they play 2A playoff games.
