This is a ignorant statement. Kids have the right to go wherever they choose. If they want to go to beechwood where they will have a good chance to win a championship that is their choice. Not to mention a diploma from beechwood looks great.

 

Seriously? I bet they have better library cards in Ft. Mitchell too. If any kid or parent is hanging their hat on how their high school education set them up for life then they've probably sold themselves a little bit short.

One thing for sure SK will NEVER EVER win a 6A football title!

No Kleenex needed. I can assure you SK is nothing but a blip on the radar of BW, our sights set on something much bigger. Had BW won, there would not have been any celebration, and I can assure you the BW kids wouldn't have been hanging around 45 minutes after the game still in uniform taking pictures. I will say though, the obsession by you SK folks of our program and community is extremely flattering. I realize you strive to be like us in Independence, but you may want to set your sights on something a little more attainable, like a winning season without Simpson/Lawrence. I will say high to all those great kids you have sent us, keep em coming.

Fine, then you will have no problem with our kids calling up your kids to play for a superior program, right? We got a nice set of apartments set up in Independence for all the kids and parents ready to bail on your program!

You are slamming young men and their families who are making personal decisions that they feel are best for them.

 

Do you know that Beechwood has experienced losing kids to other schools too? Have you ever seen a Beechwood supporter come on here and whine about it? All of these players attended Beechwood and then went on to play at another school:

Tanner Harden - Cov Cath

Dexter Smith - Lloyd

Dillon Smith - Lloyd

And of course ... Corey Crane - Simon Kenton

 

There are also a number of current players who shadowed at Beechwood and considered attending but decided to go to another high school.

 

I have not seen or heard any complaints from Beechwood about any of these players. They did what was right for them and the people at Beechwood said best of luck and wished them well.

 

You are an intelligent guy jolmstead. I urge you to re-evaluate how you are handling this. Your son and all these young men have a very limited amount of time that they get to wear the pads. Time is too short to waste it. Enjoy the time. Good luck to you and the Pioneers going forward.

This thread is really going downhill. SK won the game so SK is the better team. Beechwood will have a nice season in class A football and everyone wishes them the best. Let the young men from SK enjoy the win this weekend and start to prepare for next week. They should have celebrated after the game they are 2-0!!

Too many egos. Both teams will be fine, Beechwood will be in good shape once they get healthy, it's hard starting out the season with injuries.

VOR , one of your parents asked why Marksberry would not shake Nash's hand after the game. I answered that question. Unfortunately, I am not alone in these sentiments. I am the only one verbalizing them.

 

Your parents and ours are free to send their kids to be educated where they choose for any reason. Good or bad. Mature , or not. If that reason was because they felt they could not win with a program such as ours, they have been proven wrong.

 

Just remember the lesson of Cov. Cath under Spritzky. When parents pay big bucks so that their jonnies, joes and ethans can win football games, and all of sudden that winning stops, a program composed of parents that bailed on other programs is not going to have a lot of patience.

 

SK can sacrifice success on the field for a year so that a quarterback can be developed. SK can have a 2 win season and come back stronger. A 2 win season at BW would result in a parent insurrection and withdrawal of administrative support.

 

Your parents make all kinds of assertions about academics when their motivations are purely athletic. They bail on programs because they lack the character and fortitude to cope with adversity.

jolmstead first of all I am not a parent I stated I was a friend of Coach Rash and have been for several years. I don't care what happened and how many kids left SK to go to BW. I still think it was an unsportsman like snub that Coach Marksberry did after the game and again my opinion only. I wish SK the best of luck and the kid's that play there. As for BW they will rebound and have a great season. JD

I appreciate the response above jolmstead. I disagree with most of it but I appreciate the thoughtful reply. We have been through the whole academics/athletics/motivations for choosing a high school enough already in several threads so no need to dig in on that. The only comment I will repeat on that subject is there are 50+ "out of district/transfer" kids attending Beechwood who don't play football. There is a reason other than football why they chose Beechwood. A 2 win football season has no impact on them and all those others that will follow them. And maybe the reasons why they chose Beechwood are a big part of why those football players chose Beechwood too. Regardless of your thoughts and response, I hope you can find peace on this topic in your win and move on with your season. Good luck.

20 years later my diploma from SK still looks great I have taken real good care of it!

We need to focus on the game and not all the other issues.

 

All the other issues would make fine threads so feel free to start one on any of the side topics but for this thread please concentrate on the game.

I saw a few Beechwood youngsters in what I believe were freshman jerseys. One kid was huge, I believe #42, he looked the part.

Not to take this thread down another path off topic, but the Beechwood freshman team should be a good one. Their only loss last season was to Moeller and most of the skill players on last year's team were 8th graders so they are back. They are playing with the big schools this year so we will find out how good.

 

However, if we want to stay on topic and talk about size, Simon Kenton definitely has the size to play with anyone. It was almost comical the size difference when the captains met at mid field pre-game. The Tigers did a great job holding their own versus the size SK had on the field.
