Actually, if you look at the results as a whole, the entire NKY 6A district as a whole looks week. Campbell got crushed by Cov Cath, Dixie got crushed and Ryle got crushed. Boone plays today, so we shall see what happens with them. I'm sure all these teams will get better, but it appears that for right now, SK is ahead of its district competition. Huesman did not play last night and he is SK's best offensive threat.

It sounds like it was an early season type game with both teams making mistakes and the Pioneers making the fewer mistakes to get the win. That is all that counts, especially early in the year. Gut it out and get the win.

This whole NKY 6A district more resembles a 5A district than a 6A district. This district has the lowest collective male enrollment of any 6A district. In fact , Dixie and Boone are just over the 700 threshold number that gets you classified as 6A. SK and Ryle are right behind at about 850. All the Lexington and Louisville schools are > 1000 and Scott > 1250. When you are not attracting out of district enrollments, those differences are significant.

 

One of the reasons the schools in this district are recruiting siphons, IMO, is the fact that nobody besides T or X wins this class title. You can practicly mail it in every year. That really hurts retention. Scott is probably a much better team than any in this district.

Congrats! You won the game and were the better team last night. As bad as we played the Ads had a chance to win at the end. Depth was a factor but not the deciding one. We just did not play very well.

I'm not counting the interception Kuntz had around the 5 yd line either. That was just a bad throw into tight coverage, same as the 2 picks Wilson had. I was just counting the open throws that hit the receivers right in the hands that weren't caught. I beleive both of those patterns would have been Huesman on the other end if he was healthy and the result would not have been the same. I give the Ads credit, they moved the ball, but it seemed to me that SK's D stopped them when they needed to.

 

By the way, has ANYONE ever heard of a team being held short on 4th down, the referees signaling 1st down the other way, chains already moved, then the other coach requests a measurement and the refs agree and overturn the call???? Seems like one heck of a play for the team that was short. It would have to be 1st down everytime!

What was really incredible is that they changed the spot to give Danville a 1st down. I would not be upset if we NEVER saw this officiating crew AGAIN!

Being a little sarcastic. My point is that if their goal is to be the best in a crappy district, then their program has a long way to go. If they are as good as they say, they should dominate a weak district and be preparing for the playoff run. If they run into one of the two big boys, I think everyone would respect that loss. Heck if you look at it as they'll never make it past those two teams, then they might as well hang it up and get an early start on bball season. Just feels like we have been hearing a lot about a very mediocre team. Then have a ton of excuses why they don't do well.

 

They are in 6A for a reason. They have enough boys to qualify for it. May not have as many as T, but they still have a lot of boys. HHS fans get crap when we talk about the size of our school when we are competing and comparing to schools two divisions higher. These guys are all competing in the same division and are using the numbers to justify.

You mean if they're as good as one poster says they are? I don't see to many people on here singing praise about Simon Kenton. Bottom line is as long as Trinity and St.X are in the same class the rest of the schools will only be competitive probably once every 4-5 years and maybe one of these times will get lucky and actually win one. Like someone else harped on earlier, what's appealing about playing for a team that doesn't have a shot at state when kids can transfer to another school and almost be guaranteed a shot. It's the opposite of what happens in Louisville really.

Cincinnati Enquirer said Kuntz threw 14/24 171 yards.

I've been at a softball tournament all weekend and just now getting to enjoy my crow. I have to be honest, I'm surprised by this one. It was hardly the 30-40 point demolition that some were picking, but a win is a win. Great job SK.

 

Danville just really hasn't been Danville for a few seasons now. Hopefully they can get things right soon.
