August 17, 201214 yr Bummer! Really thought he would be a solid NFL slot. Might pull the Welker but doubt it.
August 17, 201214 yr Can either mean two things, either the knee is not healing or the rookie recievers are impressing.
August 17, 201214 yr Can either mean two things, either the knee is not healing or the rookie recievers are impressing. I'm thinking it's probably the knee but we shal see. Hard to be the type of slot receiver he was with out great agility.
August 17, 201214 yr This has been coming for quite a while. You're no use to a team if you can't get on the field.
August 17, 201214 yr Shocked and disappointed. Seemed like he caught darn near everything thrown in his direction.
August 17, 201214 yr I assume he is still not the player he showed he could be before his knee injury. I am sure he will get a shot with another team pretty quick.
August 17, 201214 yr Not surprised. He will end up with someone else, but he just is not fully recovered yet and the Bengals have other good receivers. Plus Shipley never got the chance to truly play and show Gruden what he can do. Hawkins has locked down the slot spot, Sanu can play the slot too. Marvin Jones has shown that you have to keep him around, and then Binns and Tate have looked very good. Then obviously Green. Whalen will be the next one cut IMO. I wish Shipley the best of luck and hopefully he doesn't end up anywhere in the division.
August 17, 201214 yr Wow! I must say I am surprised... Hate to see it too... I mentioned this to a friend two weeks ago that I wouldn't be suprised if he gets cuts. He never has had a chance to show Gruden what he can do, which has allowed Gruden to really like having Hawkins in the slot. Then when you have a guy like Sanu who could also play the slot it really left no room for Shipley especially since he probably is still not 100%. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Shipley asked to be released because he might have saw it coming too, so this way it allows him a chance to sign with someone else sooner rather than waiting for cut down day.
August 17, 201214 yr They’ve got a stable of solid young guys. Think about this, Shipley is/was the oldest WR in the whole group. Wiley old 3 year vet Brandon Tate is now the oldest, other than that it’s all first and second year guys. Andrew Hawkins has performed in Shipley’s absence, so Shipley becomes expendable. Depending on how many guys they keep, I think it ends up like this: WR1: 1. AJ Green (2nd year), 2. Marvin Jones (Rookie), 3. Andrew Hawkins (2nd year) WR2: Brandon Tate (3rd year) / Mohamed Sanu (Rookie) / Armon Binns (2nd year)
August 17, 201214 yr My bet is we see him in a Raiders uniform before too long. I figured he is too slow for the Raiders, they are all about speed.
