I heard a stat today (no verification) that 89% of voters who vote R are white.

 

US population is getting close to whites making up about 50% and that number has been on the downward slide.

 

Is there a way to fix the perceived problem (ie R is the "white side") without it seeming "token-ish?"

 

Is it or should it be a concern for the long term success of the Rs? Does having two well-to-do(Ryan) and uber-rich(Romney) present an image problem?

 

Of course they could fix it. That would mean a lot of work and they've proven in the past that they aren't willing to put in the work to woo in the black vote.

Absolutely hilarious! Romney's dad was born in Mexico. Guess that is as hispanic as you can get. So the two presidential hopeful's both have fathers born outside the US.

 

As to the wealth baiting issue-I guess we are to be more concerned as to how Romney spends HIS money than how Obama spends OURS (taxpayers).

 

As long as minorities believe that the Democrats are doing them favors by providing handouts and empty promises, then they will continue to vote for them. Things must be great in the big cities.

I think I know where you are going. I will vote for Romney. This election should be on the record of Obama's four years in office. he has been a failure as far as I am concerned. All the rest is just noise to take the voter off the focal point which is the incumbent.

To be clear, even though I mentioned Mr Romney, the focus of the thread is way past this election. What must Rs do to win more Latinos? More blacks? More Asians?

Tell me where I said that, because I didn't. But that is how you interpreted it. I don't think minorities are lazy at all. Just the opposite. However, like all humans when offered something for nothing, they gravitate towards it.

There are policies that should appeal to certain blocks of black voters. Example school vouchers could be a vehicle to escape failing inner-city public schools. But what acknowledged black leader touts this or makes a case for the Republican or conservative oriented policies that may be beneficial? Mostly none. There are no acknowledged black conservative leaders whose primary focus in on the black segment as an entity. True? And this is a 'national level' statement.

 

Conservative blacks are targeted worse it seems than non-blacks - by the black leader themselves.

 

Former Obama Campaign co-leader Artur Lewis is now a throwing his support to Romney. Other than indicating he will campaign for Romney no other specific role has yet to be defined officially or otherwise for him as of now. Could he be a legitimate voice to the black community from the Romney camp?

Yep there is that perception, and it has been well crafted by the Democrats. Give them credit for that. Why the minorities follow them is easy-they make all the empty promises. People like Santa Claus. They just don't like the bills that come in January.
