I heard a stat today (no verification) that 89% of voters who vote R are white.

 

US population is getting close to whites making up about 50% and that number has been on the downward slide.

 

Is there a way to fix the perceived problem (ie R is the "white side") without it seeming "token-ish?"

 

Is it or should it be a concern for the long term success of the Rs? Does having two well-to-do(Ryan) and uber-rich(Romney) present an image problem?

This is one of the reasons I have tons of issues with how the Republicans are framing the argument on immigration. The hispanic community would be an immense boon to the Republican party if they would court them properly. Hammering immigration they way they do is just a way to make themselves irrelevant when their voting bloc vanishes.

What is the percentage of registered likely voters who are white, black, hispanic and other? Doesn't matter what the percentage of the population is. At least not until different demographics vote in similar percentages.

There are other blocs of immigrants. I believe hispanic was about 31% of the total recently. The Asians are a larger block, are here legally in much bigger percentages, and tend to be conservative. Legal hispanics often are against easing up on illegal immigration. There's a lot of nuances going on with the immigrant voting blocks.

Yep there is that perception, and it has been well crafted by the Democrats. Give them credit for that. Why the minorities follow them is easy-they make all the empty promises. People like Santa Claus. They just don't like the bills that come in January.

I think I know where you are going. I will vote for Romney. This election should be on the record of Obama's four years in office. he has been a failure as far as I am concerned. All the rest is just noise to take the voter off the focal point which is the incumbent.
