I'm not sure that I understand why UL would take a chance on Pike. He is obviously a potential problem, plus he is going to play a position that he has no experience at. I'm assuming he is getting a scholarship, but I believe that he would merit no better than an opportunity to walk on.

He played TE his sophomore season at Dixie.

I agree. He should have to prove that he has changed his ways before he earns a scholarship. Plus, he will be playing a position that he was not initially recruited to play.

Not everyone was recruiting him as a QB. Some schools were looking at him as a DE and some were looking at him as a TE. This was the main reason he was so heavily recruited.

I always thought he would be a very good college defensive end..Put about 25-30 pounds on his frame with his meat head mentality and he could be really good..

"The national media is reporting Pike has not reported to camp yet, he will not report until next week when school Starts"

What this tells me is that Zeke is not on scholarship this year, in fact he may not even be considered a preferred Walk on. If he isn't joining the team until school starts he is probably categorized as a true Walk on for the year.

Who would have thought that Jerry Arlinghaus from HC would be ahead of Zeke Pike on Louisville's QB depth chart??

You may be jumping the gun on the scholarship issue. This all just happened in the past few days. He has to get enrolled and get paperwork completed to make this move. I will be very surprised if he is at UL with no scholarship.

If I was a school, that's the only way I would take him, let him prove that he can handle being on campus and the environment.

Agreed...

If the above is true, I think Pike is letting ego get in the way of the best decision. I have to believe he could go to a MAC school, get a scholarship, keep playing QB if that is what he wants AND be in a better environment for him than a high level D1 program.

Until this youngman grows up and learns to appreciate the talents that he has I don't think it s going to matter much where he goes. No one will put up with this kids act for very long.

I havent had time to read this entire thread as I am on vacation but just got a text from my U of L buddy who is tight with the program as a whole and huge financial supporter. He says the TE moniker is all bull as they have nobody behind Bridgewater and apparently similar situation where they have some solid QB commitments like Purdue and dont want to scare them off. (ie...Bolin) Apparently the kid behind Bridgewater now has terrible knees or something....im just going off a text. Dont be surprised if Pike isnt throwing the ball at Louisville as long as he can keep his nose clean.

Thanks Q. That info sounds more solid and more on target to me. I had also been told that Pike would be a QB at UL but my source was not as solid as yours, I had no confirmation and I didn't want to post. I had also heard Pike wasn't going to UL without a scholarship. Based on the posts above, maybe they are still working that out and that is why he isn't at UL yet.

Maybe GT can help here. If Pike and UL agreed over the weekend that he would attend UL and get a scholarship, how soon could Pike be on campus and work out with the team?

As soon as he signs the grant in aid papers and is accepted into the college...

How fast can that paperwork and acceptance happen? One day? One week? If they had an agreement Monday morning when the offices opened, when would you expect Pike at practice?

No clue. Compliance isn't exactly my area of expertise...
