2012 London Summer Olympics

Featured Replies

I went ahead and started a seperate thread titled 2012 Summer Olympic TV VERSION with a brief description of why it's there. Now if a mod could just add a decription to this one perhaps, calling it the live/spoiler thread.

Ask and ye shall receive! Always remember that you can "report" the thread using the triangle on the left with the little ! in it if you need a thread title change. We'll see it quicker that way. :thumb:

Someone needs to seriously explain to me how handball isn't infinitely more popular than soccer...

My understanding is that prior to the 1980s, it was a lot more like soccer in that the pace of the game was a little more deliberate and scoring considerably less frequent. Think hockey goals frequent. What we see in the Olympics now is a relatively young version of the game. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but that relative youth is probably at least a factor as to why it isn't more popular.

Woman's handball is 1000x more exciting than anything soccer-related.

Why is it so important for people who don't like soccer to crap on it all the time? What does handball have to do with soccer?

NBC ratings were up 8% compared to Beijing four years ago.

Makes sense. Being able to have live events through the morning and afternoon certainly helps. Events started at all sorts of tough times four years ago for those of us in this hemisphere.

Watching some water polo right now...loving it.

Was very bummed about the basketball game.

Enjoyed watching the Women's Skeet shooting today.

Can't believe he doesn't close that out.

Thanks for the info. This young version is awesome. I could watch it all day.

For those on Twitter the issue of delayed broadcast has spawned a new Twitter account.

Still haven't had a chance to watch yet, is it on now or again soon?

Because I'm amazed that one is insanely popular while the other isn't. But the less popular one is a more enjoyable experience IMO.

Watching the parents of the US gymnast while doing her routine was great. Looked like they were on a rollercoaster.

I love me some Olypics. I think I may take off two week for them the next time, nothing but Olypic action.

I think its the best sport in the Olympics. I love it. Oklahoma State has it as an intramural sport!
