July 27, 201214 yr I think you guys are overselling the requirements to own a fully auto machine gun. If their legal in your state you have to get approval from your local law enforcement, typically you sheriff. If approved you pay $200 for your tax stamp and thousands of $ for the gun.
July 27, 201214 yr I don't think banning certain guns violates the 2nd amendment however give an inch and they take a mile. Today's it's scary looking AR15's, tomorrow it's handguns.
July 27, 201214 yr Doesn't this look like something your Grandpa, dad or uncle might have owned? It's not military looking, it's not scary right? It is by most accounts identical to the dreaded AR-15...same .223 round, is magazine fed, and is semi-automatic (That means you have to pull the trigger for each shot, neither a Mini-14 or an AR-15 is a full auto machine gun).
July 27, 201214 yr I don't think banning certain guns violates the 2nd amendment however give an inch and they take a mile. Today's it's scary looking AR15's, tomorrow it's handguns. I agree. The answer is to enforce the laws that are already in place, don't make a new law to substitute a law that cannot be enforced in the first place.
July 27, 201214 yr Yes. I am not allowed to own a tank. Actually I think you can own a tank, just without a firing mechanism for the main gun.
July 27, 201214 yr What you may consider a high capacity magazine and what I consider high capacity would probably be two entirely different things. Magazine size or banning "Scary Looking Black Guns" is not the answer. Americans need to have personal accountability again. A 100% safe Utopian society can not be successfully legislated, there has to be personal accountability. If guns were completely removed from this country then evil people would run around with high tech compound bows. Outlaw all foreseeable weapons...then watch when someone puts fertilizer and diesel in the back of a cement truck to blow up a Walmart on Black Friday. Evil people like the Colorado shooter will not be stopped by legislation...just by a needle. Agreed was thinking the same thing. I don't consider my 30 round clips that I have for my AR-15 to be high capacity clips but have a feeling a lot of people that know little about the gun would. With that said 30 round clips are pretty much the standard clip that you're going to get for an AR-15.
July 27, 201214 yr As I asked in another thread why should it be legal to have a high-capacity weapon? What is the value of them? Secondly, does the Constitution make all weapons legal? Did you define what you meant by "high-capacity"? The Virginia Tech shooter didn't have what I would call high-capacity weapons, yet killed more people than the Aurora, CO shooter did.
July 27, 201214 yr What do you consider high capacity? Also just because we don't say or mention the 2nd ammendment in every post doesn't mean that's not ultimately what it comes down to. I've asked SEVERAL times in multiple threads and have gotten nothing beyond "2nd amendment" , thus, the question. As someone mentioned earlier not all guns are legal so I asked a simple question: why do we need high-capacity capabilities? To answer your question, a)I don't know what we should consider high capacity and b)it doesn't really matter in regards to the question I'm asking. So, why do we need to be allowed to use high-capacity weapons? The interpretation of the Constitution is constantly being reviewed so we can't say "2nd amendment."
July 27, 201214 yr Does anyone truly believe that the nutcase in CO. would have not used an automated weapon if they were not legal? You can pass as many gun restrictions as you like but criminals will continue to break the law and find the weapons. The last time I checked Cocaine was banned but I'm sure people are still using this very moment. . Poor logic. By that logic nothing would ever be illegal.
July 27, 201214 yr As far as an out right ban of said guns I don't see how it would not violate the 2nd ammendment. Someone posted earlier that there are already banned weapons. Was he wrong?

I'm not advocating anything near banning guns completely. There has to be some middle ground here on what makes sense. You can't hide behind the fact that we all may disagree on what constitutes high capacity. That's every issue every day in this country.

Your support it in the sporting clause, like The President? I don't need a lot of things, I buy/get them because I want them. Some of the can be used in EVIL ways.....oooooohhhhhhh.
