July 30, 201214 yr I don't know, but the point of my post was that crime went up in two of the biggest cities after their gun bans went into place. So banning guns in Chicago and DC didn't seem to have the desired outcome of lower crime. Unless you do and in depth study you can't reach this conclusion. Did the economy tank after the ban and does crime usually go up when the economy goes down? Too many factors

What limitations upon the right to bear arms are permissible. Some undoubtedly are, because there were some that were acknowledged at the time. For example, there was a tort called affrighting, which if you carried around a really horrible weapon just to scare people, like a head ax or something, that was I believe a misdemeanor.
