Something must be going right... but to the issues that have been raised: They can't hit - True. the Reds have been pretty anemic at the plate. The leadoff hitters include Cozart .240 and Stubbs .223. Down the lineup, Bruce is hitting .240 and has had stretches where he can't sniff a hit. Mesoraco is hitting .219, Rolen .197, Cairo .137. Lest we forget, Harris burned up the league at .114 and Costanzo at .056. Votto's out - True. No leadoff hitter - True. Rolen's too old - True. They need a left fielder - I would disagree with this one. Ludwick has come on great and Heisey is solid as well. The starting pitching hasn't been all that great - Not sure I can go with this one. When Votto went out I said that if the Reds went 500 I'd be happy. So far, they're 2-2 so I can't complain. This division is the Reds to lose. I still have no confidence that the Pirates are "for real" and the Cardinals aren't the same Cardinals with Pujols in LA and Carpenter & Garcia out.

To be honest there haven't been that many in game decisions that I have questioned this year. I still think he needs to move Phillips up to lead off when Votto comes back, but Dusty hasn't been too bad this year IMO. Still not a fan though.

The Pirates have been scoring a lot of runs recently and are said to be going after another bat to add to the lineup. If they can do this I think they are for real with the good pitching that they have. They should be a factor down the stretch.

I on the other hand question a lot of his in game decisions. Personally I think that he has lost them possibly 4-5 games due to not making quick decisions on pitching moves and not being willing to bring Chapman in earlier than the 9th inning. I know that DMD is going to ask for evidence but I don't have specific dates and I am not going to dig for it. It's my opinion and we'll leave it at that.
July 20, 201214 yr The Pirates have been scoring a lot of runs recently and are said to be going after another bat to add to the lineup. If they can do this I think they are for real with the good pitching that they have. They should be a factor down the stretch. Their SP has been very average the last month. They've been winning because of the offense the past 30 days. Before that they won because of the pitching. I can't see them keeping up this offensive pace.
