Brewers @ Reds Series 07/20/ thru 07/22/12

The Pirates offense has been on a roll of late. McCutchen has been crushing the ball, and Alvarez has picked up his game as well. They have two very good starters in McDonald and Burnett. After that it's Bedard, Karstens, and Correia. Three pitches that don't scare you, but are capable of having very good outings, or getting beat around pretty good. Very similar to the Reds pitchers 3-5. The Pirates also have a very good bullpen. I give the Pirates offense the edge over the Reds, and the Reds starting pitching the edge. I fully expect the Pirates to be in the race to the end, ever more so if they make a trade for another bat, or starting pitcher.

I agree they have been good but I just don't see them making it through the entire season at this pace. I could be wrong, but I am a doubter. Reds/Cards finish 1-2 in some order, barring a Reds collapse, and then I'd give the Brewers an outside shot at 2nd unless they sell.

Additionally, IF the Reds win the division and a playoff series Dusty just may be Manager of the Year.

I do. IMO, the Pirates aren't going away this year. If they do, it won't be remotely anything like last season.

Sorry, replied to the wrong comment.

Homer Bailey takes on the Brew Crew in the 1st game of the series. Homer has been rocked twice this year by the Brewers, and his career numbers against the Brewers is pretty bad. Let's hope Homer changes his losing ways against Milwaukee tonight.

Brewers with a scoring threat in the 1st inning.

Great job by Bailey to escape the jam by striking out Ramirez and Hart.

Great job by Homer of getting out of early trouble.

Bailey's doing his job; time for the offense to get going.

I cringed when he rounded first.

Frazier fails to get him to third, but thankfully a wild pitch advances Rolen.

Cheater ... please, don't compliment that cheater on anything.

Can't stand him. I agree on the cheating, but it was still a nice play.

9 strikeouts for Bailey through six.
