When you play defense and shoot free throws like HHS did tonight, you'll have a chance to win any game. That man-to-man is the best I've seen. They get after it and contest everything.

Great point. It is not that Cov Cath is playing that bad. The 9th region is very balanced and any of the top 8 teams can knock each other off on given night. Cov Cath has some questions no doubt. TJ is not one of them, he is the last of their concerns. Last night they ran into a team that plays great defense and is well coached. TJ had 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. WOW! There is way to much focus on how people handle TJ in this half or that half, how he maybe forces things, that is all useless garbage. He is the only consistent part of the team. It is what it is. They are just like any other team, when you rely on 1 player as they are right now, you will get beat by teams who are well coached. With Timmy back he will only help but you cant have TJ getting 21 of the 54 points all the time. Gotta have more scoring out of other positions period. It was a GREAT game played by two evenly matched teams. Neither team has nothing to be ashamed about. Great environment, great rivalry, great hard nosed clean basketball played. It doesn't get much better than last nights game. Best 5 bucks I have spent in awhile. It is what it is!!!!

I wasn't there so I certainly don't want to argue anything, but the radio guys kept saying 3 dribbles were taken in 2 seconds.

 

For what it is worth, they also attributed the Tieney walk to condensation on the floor.

 

There were about 3 dribbles, but in the middle of the last one the ball went flying out of bounds, and from my angle I could not tell when the whistle was blown (it got loud) and I could not see when the ball went out of bounds. My point is, without tenths of a second on the clock, it's difficult to tell how accurate (or inaccurate) the time was.

 

Like I said, HHS has an argument but I don't think it was too poorly done.

It seemed to me like they did get in his head a little bit - one T and a few missed bunnies. Nonetheless, he played well & was relatively controlled after the T, which was good to see.

There is not a high school kid around that wants a piece of Ben G........The kid will throw down with a drop of a hat.......He is as crazy as his old man was... :fight: :fight:

I think the point is that Ben G. will not be intimidated by anyone on the court or 200 boys in the stands chanting jeers at him.

He missed two wide open layups, he overreacted to a foul (that went his way), and he was held under 15 points after scoring 31 a few games ago. I would say that he was rattled.

My point is that his father won a national tough man contest when he was younger and Ben is in the same mold...........All I'm saying is I don't think too many young men would want to mess with him.........I think he does go a little overboard at times but I like his heart and determination....Ben's personality is suited more for football than basketball that's for sure.....He is still a pretty good B-ball player though.....

The talk of intimidation & "throwing down" doesn't hold much water in basketball. There are 3 refs out there and nobody is going to "mess" with somebody on the basketball court. A football, rugby, lacrosse, or hockey match/game you may have an argument, but not so much on the hardwood.

Come on folks, you're being a little tough on G. Please quit acting like all the kids at CovCath are saints. I could start singling out some kids in your cheering section out, but won't. Every time people criticize your cheering section, all I hear in response is: they are only kids having fun, kids just being kids, etc and people should chill. Well, why doesn't the same hold true for G.? Oh yeah, it does.
