I am so tired of hearing about this call not being made. The refs can't be everywhere. I saw several plays on both ends that should have been called and weren't. I thought the refs did a great job on Friday night. Now for Saturday night at NCC-HHS they were terrible. They didn't take control like the guys did at CCH.

Get over it- you lost!

The loss does not upset me at all. Both teams played hard, and the better team that night won.

In no way shape or form am I making excuses for the loss. Like I said, HHS was better on Friday & deserved to win. The reason that that "no call" is getting so much attention is two-fold:

1. It was a big hit on one of CCH's best players who is just getting back from an injury.

2. Listerman got a T after it.

It's not sour grapes...

my apolgies then. I saw a couple of times when two different HHS players were taken down hard, granted there were no technicals resulting from these, it is still frustrating to hear people complain about another particular file. Let's hope both teams end up winning their districts and don't face each other again until the Regional Tourney. Woudn't that make for a good game.

A response to a comment is not an excuse for losing. And game tape showed the missed call and Ben's arm clearly extended, whether on purpose or not I don't know. And for the record, the refs did a great job Friday keeping the game under control.

For the record, that is what i said in my post, that the refs did a good job Friday.

I know, I was just saying that from a Colonel fan prospective the refs did good, to show that I do not blame the loss on them.

This is what I saw from my view. I was sitting behind CCH's bench. 2nd rown. On the Young and Guidugli incident I first couldn't believe that Young had the gutz to get back up in Guidugli's face. But there were no punches. No pushing. No words really said. I asked Michael after the game what was said he said nobody really said a thing at all. Michael said they were just starring at each other. But at that point in the game it was starting to get out of control and the refs didn't want anything to happen from there on.

As a ref they knew the game would be wild and physical and to add to that that Guidugli could explode at any moment so as soon as something happened it was there job to make sure nothing happened again. And it to their credit it really did work in the second half.

As for Listerman. He is crazy. From the moment of tip off he was in a refs ear all night. He didn't give the refs any slack. From where I was sitting the the incident where he was T'd up went like this. Guidugli pushed Tierney and Tierney went to the floor hard. No foul was called and probably there should have been one called. Then, I saw the ref running up the sideline close to CCH bench and as he passed it, Listerman got up and accidentally bumped him, while yelling at him. It wasn't on purpose and the ref might have over reacted but like I said Listerman had been on him all night already. Listerman was in his coaching box also. The ref possibly was running out of bounds as he came down the court or even right on the sideline. I really don't think the bump was intentional, but I think all 3 Zebras had had enough.

(Tim told me he thought it defenitely was foul on Guidugli, but after the play was over Tim just tapped him on the butt and told "hit me harder next time" and they both laughed. Then he saw coach had got a Technical.)

Thank you for the explanation. I was just confused on what had happened. Refs did make some questionable calls though.

Not making excuses. Highlands won the game fair and square and the refs did do an excellent job of keeping the game in check and from getting out of control. I saw a few walks and little things like that from both teams that could have swung the game either way. And in a game that is as close as this one was, little things like an uncalled travel or a missed foul can have a big impact. Hats off to Highlands though.

I see a pattern. Highlands wins in football the Cov. Cath. faithful look to the refs. Highlands wins in basketball.... :D
