Kid is coming back from an injury. Maybe he lost his spot at Dixie to one of the talented sophomores.

Here's my thinking as to why I say it's 100% football. I don't know the kid or the family so I'll speak generally about a senior at Dixie switching to Beechwood.

 

1. It's not educational. You don't suddenly move to Beechwood your senior year because of education. Too late for the most part. In addition, a senior can get a top-notch education at Dixie IF he/she is interested. One of the smartest kids I know graduated from Dixie in 2011.

2. Could it be he doesn't like new coach? Maybe. If so, still football related.

3. Family got a great deal on a house in Ft Mitchell. Great. Kid can still go to Dixie. Why would you uproot a kid for his senior year UNLESS there were other issues ie football?

4. In his opinion Dixie will struggle this year. Football related.

5. He wants to win a state championship. Football related.

6. He had a really bad personal experience at Dixie that causes him to hate his daily educational experience. Plenty of other schools. Chose one that has strong football. Football related.

7. It's football related.

 

As to point No. 3, are you sure the Kenton Co. School District accepts out of district students? If so, is there a reciprocity agreement in place between Kenton Co. and Beechwood? If there is no reciprocity agreement, what tuition is charged by Kenton Co.?

There is an open enrollment policy in Kenton County Schools, but it has been suspended, temporaily I believe, due to lack of capacity at some schools. 300$ was the open enrollment fee last year.

Nobody is twisting your arm to read this thread. This blatantly obvious football transfer, if allowed, has serious ramifications. It sets a very dangerous precident.

Let's have this conversation again when Beechwood is on the other end of key transfer.

 

It has happened. There have been athletes that left Beechwood to go to another school. I haven't heard one person from Beechwood whine about it. These are personal decisions that families make and you have to let them do what they feel is best for their family.

According to the Kenton Schools website, yes.

 

Tuition is charged. If the other school district does not release ADA funds that amount is added to the tuition.

All of that said, when the rules are written, the family follows the rules that are in place, then you have a valid transfer.

Maybe these rules, or any set of rules, can't prevent someone hell bent on a transfer from doing so. Is that all so bad?

Here is the way I see it. Beechwood has one of the Top Football programs in NKY. They put a good product on the field each and every year. So the program recruits kids on its own. No need for coaches or anyone else to do it. The name Beechwood does it.

 

So don't get mad at Beechwood. Be mad at your schools product and help to improve what your school is doing.

 

Whining because kids transfer doesn't keep kids from leaving.
