My parents purposely moved from Burlington to Park Hills when my older brother was an incoming sophmore so he could have a shot at state. It worked as he won state in 1997. They then moved to Fort Thomas so I coulf win state which I did in 1998 and 1999. We don't be grudge our parents one bit. Parents know what is best fro thier children, not the other way around.

 

I played tackle for a small public school in NY. We never won more than four games in a season. The guys I played on the line with were my best friends and remain so to this day. Last year, when my eldest son was critically ill and nearly passed, two of them took turns to flew out and care for my other two sons so I could be at the hospital.

I entirely agree with your sentiment that there is a great deal more value in football than winning state championships.

That was a very noble thing that your friends did for you and I am sorry you and your family had to go through that experience. Hope all is better now. The value of friendship alone though should override where one goes to school or where one works. Some of my best friends today were from rival schools or from companies that I had moved on from. I don't think the values of friendship are any different.

Not sure I see any sense in moving a kid out of his school for his senior year (academically as well as athletically). If it HAD to be done by the parents that's understandable, but the kid drives now and it's not like Dixie and Beechwood are that far apart. Can't fathom a player wanting to transfer from a place he's been starting at for 3 yrs just to get a chance at a ring in what very well could be a back-up roll.

Meant this would be his 3rd yr starting...

The family moved. He isn't an only child. Justice has known many of the Beechwood players since youth football so it isn't like he is moving to another state. Like most of these decisions, it isn't as simple a decision as it appears when you know only the surface level facts like almost every poster in this thread. There is almost always much more to these situations than most people are aware, and that is true here.
